Hi there good people,
I’m new to this site so g’day!! Where I’m from things are not very good in the the whole legal growing of the green stuff unfortunately.
I just started growing in coco and have run into a few cal/mag deficiencies which seems to be fairly common, and I think it was because of two reasons. Firstly I was feeding with a constant ph of 5.8. Then I figured out that if by starting at 5.8 then over 3 feeds I feed down to 5.6 the plant can absorb calcium more effectively then I give her a foliar feed of magnesium on the second feed at 5.6 and start feeding up to 5.9 again, then sit on 5.8 for a few feeds and start the process again seems to be working. Secondly my tap water has a ppm of about 175 which i don’t think contains much cal/mag and even when adding a cal/mag supplement was still getting cal/mag issues, don’t know is the silicates in the tap water are blocking the absorption of cal/mag.
Can you guys see any problems with what I’m doing by fluctuating the PH?
Also I think I’ve discovered a way of moving plants from indoor to outdoor stealth grow style. Solar powered fairy lights cost $10 from hardware. I moved some plants out bush three weeks ago and I didn’t want to have them flower prematurely, so I wrapped them in solar powered fairy lights like little cannabis Xmas trees. Light automatically come on at dusk. No premature flowering thus far fingers crossed. The plants are in the middle of nowhere so the only person who may discover them is a low flying pilot.
Anyway pleased to meet you all and appreciate any feedback or knowledge you may have.
Thanks heaps.
