train them man! It can be fun, just either get a screen or just start working them lower. Im assuming you know some basic lst routes to try, and also have you topped at all?

I dont know too much about lst but what I really need is a smaller plant to take clones from, only for a nother month or so.then I can put her outside and keep one of her offspring and start her all overagain.I'm just worried that taking the top 2 feet off her all at once will ensure her an early grave or turn her hermie which is about the same as dying lol
lst would be way too much anyways she has about8-12 big topsshe is a 4 foot hedge lol early skunk

get a screen involved, its not hard at all man. Look up scrog methods you can train bigger plants to work into a screen which is set at the height you choose it to be at. although, if you planned a hidden spot outside that would kinda look redic. lol

They are moms?

When I take clones from my moms, they go from a 3' tall full bush to a few sticks and leaves...

I "shave" my moms and they are right back where I need them in 2 weeks... every 2 weeks...

I take at least 70% of the plant off...

I am gonna see if I can find some of Al's pics for you.. hang on...

Al uses HPS for his moms... which causes some extra stretch..

I vegg with T-5s... I prune even lower than he does...

My moms are more bushy than his, so I chop the just above the lowest branch...

I always leave a node for a branch or 2 to develop...

Does that make sense?

Mother plant pruned and ready to go back in & veg for 2 weeks until the next batch of cuttings is needed. "Before" pic repeated here for comparison.

I'll take as many as i can but most will be too small the nodes are really close together on the main 8 - 12 tops

I have taken clones that were barely 1"..lol..

They'll grow...

As long as you have one node, you are golden...

I sometimes chop a branch at every node... making sometimes up tp 5 clones out of one...

All you need is a node...

Hell you can actually root a fan leaf!!! it will be just a leaf and then die... no nodes.. but it will root...lol...

i always wondered that.. if i could keep cutting down yhe same branck and get multipul clones.I only clone the growing tips and wait untill there is atleast 1 preferabaly 2 nodes left behind to grow new shoots.so when I first cloned her I was getting about 15-20 now I get about 75 without even hurting her. soon I'll get 150 or so

Branch cloning

How do I take multiple clones from the whole branch?

Introduction
Most folks (including me) take only main growing tips as cuttings, but occasions arise when you want to preserve the maximum number of growing tips on the mother plant. Sometimes it is better to remove only one complete branch and make it into multiple clones. Occasionally, while training a plant, you will break off a branch. Here's a way to turn that branch into multiple clones.

Just as an aside, I discovered this technique when my knife slipped, and I cut across a node instead of trimming off the leaf and secondary growing tip at that node. I was surprised when the bottom half rooted faster than the main growing tip.

According to several sources, cuttings taken from below the main growing tip will usually root faster (and in my observation better) due to lower nitrogen levels and higher carbohydrate levels. I also find the stiffer woody stems from lower on a branch easier to deal with than soft green ones near the tip.

The smaller secondary growing tips will take a bit longer to develop into full fledged plants, but they will have a great set of roots to do it with.

Technique
Cut off the main growing tip by making a 45 degree cut through the main stem just above a node and prepare it as you normally would.

Cut up the remainder of the branch by making a succession of cuts through the nodes at 45 degree angles. You will end up with a bunch of short stems with a 45 degree cut at the top and the bottom, and a leaf and growing tip near the upper edge of the top cut.

If the cutting is too long to fit entirely inside your cloning medium, trim the bottom end of the cutting.

Holding the cutting by the leaf stem (petiole), scrape away some of the outer layer of the stem tissue to expose some phloem (the white tissue underneath). Dip the whole stem into your cloning gel or rooting hormone, be sure to cover both the bottom and the top cuts. Avoid getting any on the growing tip.

Insert the stem into the cloning medium, you may need to open up the hole in the rockwool or latex plug a bit first.

I do not believe in a lot of things I see and hear...

If there was a sure fire way of improving ANYTHING THAT MUCH, it would be standard procedure... Think of it...
