Poison Ivy....EVERYWHERE!!!!

Yep, it's covering my face, arms, torso, legs, nuts, you name it, its there.

I NEED HELP! Any remedies to help the itching, dry it out, whatever I want it all!!!!

Anyone who's ever had it knows my pain, except this is the worst case I've ever had. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!!!!!

you need to go to the docs and get a steroid shot . . . . then it'll go away in like 4-5 days or something.

calimine lotion (idk spelling) should help take some of the urge to scratch of kill yourself haha. you can get it at Walgreens/CVS. But ^ is also an option

Ok well i've gotten the steroid pills before, i think it was called prendizone? But how is the shot compared to the pill form?

And for temporary itch relief i have a Band-Aid numbing gel that works really good, but it only lasts like 15 minutes.

Ok, thanks for the help. I really dont give a fuck about pain at this point so i'll probably just ask my doctor for the shot.

that sucks so bad.I had poison ivy once but my friend had this old medicine kit from the war and it had all this shit in it and one of the medicines was a cure for poison ivy.
Id get to the doc though if you dont have any medicine yet.

oatmeal bath, a cold shower, calamine lotion. cold shower and calamine lotion is probably the most effective, maybe throw a benadryl as well.

ive been hospitalized for poison ivy more than once. you could say im highly allergic to it.

stay the fuck away from calamine, its only good for healing rashes. by rubbing the shit in you will make it much, much worse.
steriods are nice, but you dont need them unless you cant sleep form the itching...

what you need is a product called Technu. you can get it at most pharmacies.
technu is a bonding agent that traps/binds the oils that cause irritation from poison ivy/sumac/oak
you spray the stuff on, then take the hottest shower you can stand... never a bath. always showers.
they also make soap that has the same stuff in it, and even laundry soap to get the shit off your clothes and keep it from spreading to others in the household via the laundry.
its what the US foresty dept gives its rangers........ trust me on the shit, its the only thing ive ever used that actually works!!!!!!!!!!


and ps- the worst itching is when the rash is weeping.... dont scratch it, or rub the pus with your bare fingers, it will just keep spreading. when it weeps, blot the pus off your skin using a dry peice of tissue or toliet paper.... helps contain the rash very very quickly. keep the shit off your hands and clothes and it wont spread

Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely going to get some of that technu. I have a doc's appointment at 6, so i'll probably get the steroids and then get the technu. My whole face is just red, so i'm worried it's gonna go into my eyes.

it usually doesnt get into the eyes but it can irritate tear ducts.... also it can get into your sinuses and throat..
