It depends on what happens, but it is being avoided at all costs right now, I'm not in favor of it myself, other methods can be used these days along with giving them planes. Everybody knows the rules and a no fly zone would be breaking them, so is invading from Belarus though, operating planes and firing missiles from there too.
 
So Poland is not technically giving Ukraine planes. The USA is. Okay.
Maybe a game of "Hot Potato?"

Oh by the way, just for a laugh. The Orange One has said that USA should send it's F22s with Chinese flag painted on them to attack Russia so Russia and China will go to War.


And You Trumpies want to put the Squat Mushy Yam back in the White House!

I agree with you. It's sad and I am all for Russia being thrown out of Ukraine but it is a culturally intertwined area with history going way back.
Putin has a point about the Ukrainian lands being part of different configurations over the centuries.
It's also true they voted to separate from the Russian Federation as soon as they were let off the old Soviet lease.

The history of Russia and that is fascinating.
There are YouTube videos going back through all the Tzars and the rise of the Soviet Union.
The basic argument here is, is it fair to reconquer Ukraine after it officially separated from the Russian Federation.

god damn. Putin invaded Georgia, took Crimea away from Ukraine, bombed civilians in Syria and the US did practically nothing. Now, Putin invades Ukraine, using 5th century BC tactics with modern arms and you say it's OK because the Tzar?

Ukraine became an independent nation in 1991. It signed a treaty with Russia in 1994 that recognized this with guarantees that Russia would respect the borders. Citing ancient history to justify an illegal invasion? WTF?

Direct armed conflice between US and Russian troops would not help Ukraine. It would turn Ukraine into a battlefield that would end up levelling its cities and infrastructure, not to mention there is no exit strategy once Putin's enfeebled military is finally shown the door. Supplying arms to help Ukraine defend itself is valid as is allowing the Ukrainian air force to use NATO bases.

Sanctions are a long term strategy that will end Putin's ability conduct war. His regime will fall apart eventually.

I hope I didn't say it was okay. I think I was sharing I was watching YouTube videos about the history.

So it would be a Nuclear Waste Land with Radio Active sand blowing around and Zombie like creatures with flesh hanging off of bones eating cats and dogs and slow children?

One thing is for sure. The Russian people would be the last to know. All the independent media is shut down.

I've been boning up on this too. youtube is kind of sketchy though.

People in that country have never had what could be described as good government. I feel for them but I don't see any alternative than grinding their economy down to the breaking point. The only way Putin will be stopped if he's dealt a blow so hard he can never fight again.

When I say "those people" I'm referring to the general area not a specific country.

Those people have experience a lot of suffering and death over the centuries.

60 to 70% of the Russians are buying the line on the war, but what about the economy? We are seeing the war protesters fill the jails, next in a few weeks it will be the desperate economic protesters and there will be more of them in this age of cell phones. The alcoholics alone in the place will be climbing the walls too and that includes many millions of older men! He has large internal security forces apparently, but they are unblooded and have also just gotten a massive pay cut.

That is a grim story. I had to stop listening and took a break when they started putting children to death by guillotine just because they wanted to empty the prisons.

I'm glad you took it up. A lot of my thoughts expressed here were developed out of listening to History of Rome and Revolutions podcasts.
