Poll: How many plants do you put under a 1000 watter?

I have done too many my first two cycles, but things always turned out pretty well. This time however, I've purchased two 4X4 tables, and I'm having trouble figuring out how many I want to do. I have friends recommending I take it down to as long as nine per tray which I find to be pretty damn small. I was thinking more along the lines of 12-14 per tray. I suppose you could pack 16 in there if you really wanted things to be tight, as most plants take up a square foot per. I am using 3 gallon pots.

Of course, this kind of depends on the strain as to weather or not nine plants could fill out a 4X4 canopy with only nine plants. I will be growing a strain they are calling Care-Free which is Early Durban crossed with Afgoo - sounds kind of interesting. Anyhow, just looking to see what other fellow growers do!

hard to say man with everybody doing S.O.G. i'd try and get 9 plants maybe 12 but giving them space to fill out, i would have a 1000w HPS but it would be a killer on the electricity bill

I am thinking twelve but I am worried that the canopy may not fill out a 4X4 in three gallon pots... it's tough to say until you see how the strain is growing.

Funny, I have found a lot of places that say a 600Wer will cover at least 5' X 5'. I was going to try to put 15-18 in an area about 4 X 5. Seems like you'd be able to do more under 1K

15 plants 18 in. tall sounds a bit much. Those plants will end up around 4 feet tall. Might be to crowded.

Depends how you grow in your tables.Some people use pots in the tables my people use rockwool cubes put into rockwool slabs then buried under hydroton clay pebbles .They use 4x 8 tables with 20 plants so Id say 10 plants in a 4x4 you could put them in a row buy a light mover and use 1 1000 watt light for both trays.Durbin is a sativa and will be tall but if you crop the top and prune or "Lollipop" them youll have better luck.Figure sativa like durbin to produce low but triple height during flower.I did Africa Durbin Poison and it got to 5 feet after veg of 14 inches yeilding about an oz per plant dry

I was told to probably not top this strain, a friend of a friend type deal said he is doing just fine without topping it. Not really looking to invest in light movers just yet, I just want to fill the canopy properly. Since I'm not completely familiar with the strain I will probably grow a few extra just so I don't end up with empty canopy space if they don't turn out to real branchy. I grow in three gallon buckets and the plants can be moved around too which is nice to create a stadium like canopy.

It's a personel preference, but I like growing in buckets also.

I say 9.

i grow with mini florescent bulbs witch equal a thousand watts in a 4 by 4 by 7ft tall and i harvest every 3 months make sure u have the right air pushing through the room
