Pollen's traveling abilities

I am about to do my first grow in a 3x6 built box in my basement. I was planning on having a few male Blue Mystic from Nirvana and putting one or two in a seperate box across the room with a female GH Cheese to see if i can make some Blue Cheese. However i am worried that the pollen will escape from one box through the vintilation and into the main box with my females of multiple strains and pollinate them. Is this something i should worry about? Should i filter the pollen out as it leaves or is there something else i could do?

Do you think its a bad idea all together or is there something i could do to avoid this problem? like filter the air coming from the box with the males or maybe using just enough pollen to pollinate a female and let her finish out in the seperate box without the male. Either of those sound feasible to any of you?

if u move the male to a seperate room, u should be fine (still keep it under the box or somethin).. my grow room is in the same tiny room as the furnace (in the basement), and even though the furnace pulls/pushes air from throughout the house to the basement, no pollination occurs.. i actually kept my males in an old fridge down the hallway...when i need it, i collect the pollen and cull them..

if your very careful, keep the males and selectively pollinate the correct fems.. u will be glad when harvest comes and u have some killer seeds for next grow :peace:

*** key is to be careful.. never underestimate nature.. pollen can/will travel if you're careless

The best thing i can tell you is that pollen stick to cloths and you, so even if your at your friends house with a busted male and go back to your house into the flowering room there's a good chance your shit will have seeds. You really have to watch the male plant.

well i think ill also be best to not even ventilate the male to keep the pollen from easily getting into the room and to keep humity up to minimize loose pollen spread. When is the best time to off the male and collect all the pollen without a lot of it opening and getting into the air? How much pollen will i need to pollinate a female and get decent seeds? And when is the best time to pollinate a female?

Joe there is a DIY here that shows you how to neatly collect the pollen from the sack without having a HUGE mess. Mr. FDD is the author of it i believe.
