pond sludge?

We drained a small pond to rebuild the dam and scraped up the bottom muck that was in it.
Got to thinking this should be super rich. There were lots of bluegill in there along with turtles. It was healthy water in that respect, no ag runoff. Etc.
So was wondering if anyone on here has used such a mix?
I piled the muck separate from the dam soil when excavating keeping our garden in mind.
Will definitely try it slowly, drying it out. adding perlite,...
Guess a good soil test with micros would be best bet, but still wanted to see if anyone else on here ever tried mixing it in for their plants.

My buddy has a 3acre pond he wanted to dredge but got shut down because it has outflow. Im sure states are diff but ya its good stuff and if its the “right” stuff theres actually companies that pay alot of money for it

Yes that will be interesting to see. I know it's gotta be a good opportunity - even if it needs a lot of aeration and composting.
Well get a few loads up to the house once it dries out a little down there.

Yes to the composting.

When we dug out the basin of this pond I thought this sludge was so soupy and thick that it would possibly have issues namely getting it aerated / composted.
Well, today I just couldn't stand it so went down there and shoveled a bucket of it and inspected the piles.
Much to my surprise it has already been hard at work! It was scooped out the end of last summer and has changed big time. Before it was similar to the consistency of fudge. Now it is super loamy and much like a nice loaf of homemade bread. Lol
Thought I would pass this along in case anyone else runs into a scenario like that. Give it time!

And lab tests defo from all pesticide runoff etc could be there many toxins so if ya smoking it I’d test it

microbes should be crazy lol madness I’d love to see this as I’ve seen a recipie calling for swamp sludge as the ewc portion for cannabis in an old article being best lol

Well interested I wouldn’t dry it out tho you will kill it’s life

I’d mix itand pot it now and let it dry out while adding wheat grass alfalfa or rye as microbes need a root zone to stay active and they will help cycle the stuff and give ya a mulch layer to stop evap

most phosphorus dissapeared in the air when tilled and exposed to air
So don’t dry it if anything seal it
Mix it and layer cardboard on top while seeds germinate
then plan ya think but plz don’t dry it most what ur hoping for will be gone by the time you use it otherwise

Just checked the pic after excitement LOOK at the leaves man don’t friggin dry it and get somthing growing asap
Buy some whole oats or rye or whatever from the shop and drop it on
Rye is very good fast mulching and holds a lot of rhizo
Alfalfa fixes nitrogen too and is full of growth hormones

Yes, I'm just now seeing how active this soil has been. Sure hate to see it go down hill.
Probably won't be able to preserve near as much as I'd like to - since there is so much of it.
Maybe I could add leaves straw, some alfalfa cubes,.....and tarp it.
I do plan to take a couple few hundred gallons worth and give it extra attention with more food and to add most of my red wigglers to it.
You are correct on all the leaves. This pond was in the woods on our property. It was healthy enough water to have lots of small fish in it so that's a plus.
As soon as it dries out down there I can grab the skid steer and trailer and start making loads

Oh boy sounds a good mine yes good idea man make a soil n tarp it let it brew up turn fluffy could get hot so flip if 76c to keep microbes alive
