Help Required,
I've just started my first first ever grow from seed, Auto AK 47, They are in a 1 foot by 1 foot tank reflective on all sides which is being used as a propagator, They are in soil, under a 40w fluro, at a temp between 20 oc to 23 oc, They are 1 week old and about three inches tall, The thing I need help with is that they don't seem to be developing leaves, Currently they are growing taller but not developing greenery, Please can someone advise where I've gone wrong, Greatly appreciated

Plants need fresh air to breathe you said they are in a tank? Get a fan blowing in teir to move the air around and also it will strengthen your stems.

I think I might have made a school boy error, and you're right they are enclosed completely from all sides, So i think you are right they will be restricted by their air quality, I think the tank might be a bit to small for a fan

the no air thing will probly kill them eventually if u dont fix it, and if there just growing taller and no new leaves then ur light is to far away from the plant and it is stretching to get closer to the bulb.

I've just made an amendment by removing part of the tank lid, which should hopfully act as an air vent, Once they start developing leaf's will the stalk strengthen to support the weight, Also I mentioned they are Auto AK 47, am I restricted reference how long I can keep the plant in the vegatative state,

I'm intending to move the plants in a couple of weeks to a grow tent, where they will get more room, better air flow, bigger plant pot and a 400w MH bulb, The idea of the tank was just for the initial grow phase

Yea, the 40 watts wont cut it. Best bet is getting a son agro 430hps bulb by sylvania. The best bulb for a 400 watt hps ballast. You can use this bulb in veg and flower. It has the added blue spectrum.

I quarantee you will be one happy camper. Good luck either way :)

you will not keep them in veg they will bloom naturally. Get your self some cfls the more the better really those long tubes are really obsolete with cfls. You can get 42 watt cfls and hook them up to a splitter so you have 2 or 3 of them in a more condensed area. That would be a whole lot better than the 40-80 watts over 2-4 feet. Just go for what you can afford the smaller 23 watts can be bought in packs for cheap like 5 bucks. Once you get some more intense light and get the fan blowing on them they should strengthin up a little keep your light on 18 hours a day throughout the whole grow and good luck.

I'm a little concerned reference the auto factor, the site I got them from advised

Genetics: AK47 x Lowryder Type: f1 hybrid Variety: Mostly Sativa/Ruderalis Harvest Date: 9 weeks from Seed Flowering Period: 8 weeks THC Content: Unknown/Strong No. of seeds Per Packet: 5 or 10 Characteristics: Odorous auto-flowering strain.
They are a week old tomorrow and have only just developed 2 leafs, I really don't think they will be in a condition to start flowering with in a week, Sorry their are no photo's, Also I did explain I'm doing my first grow, I've read a couple of books, but have no pratical experience, and consider myself to be a complete novice, (any guidance is appreciated)

The 26 watters actually have the best lumen to watt ratio of the cfls.

Just a brief update, I've removed part of the lid of the tank, The seedlings are getting more air, They have stopped their quick vertical climb, the second set of leafs are growing and with careful inspection I can see the third set of leafs starting to develop. Also I bought some more kit grow tent, light filter, and fan, I'm using the fan to blow air into the tank as advised, and will be looking to rehouse them in about a weeks time they are currently only eight days old

(The journey of the frow, has to be advised as fascinating)

I will try to get round to adding some pictures !
