I am starting 18 "The Giant" Poppies in 8" pots indoors. Waiting till March to sow the outdoor seeds. They have been cold saturating outside in a jar for a few days. Temps 25F-38F. I will start germinating them tomorrow morning using a paper towel and zip lock.

Changing plans for indoor Poppies. Will be planting 6 The Giants & 6 Afgan Danish Red Flags. They will be split for a 60 day Veg under the 100w spider farmers, then will kick on the 1000w hps for the final 40-50 days.

Poppies like to Veg under 12/12 and flower under 18/6. They technically only need 6 hrs of direct sunlight per day. Due to artificial light hoping they do ok inside. I have read mix reviews on how Poppies grow indoors. I believe the general consensus is they do better outside.

Seeds started sprouting today after only 24-48 hrs

Starting off with 1tbsp/15ml of Bigbloom. Not fully watering the pots, just enough to grow the sprouts out. Will keep top damp untill its safe to water again. I am also adding Recharge 1/4tsp every 2 weeks.

I have a couple locations I will plant outdoors. Still alot of work to do. The previous owners of the house had dozens of day lilies, which have a bulb root system. Unlike Poppies which are vascular, same as cannabis. I already removed the lilies, have to really till up the soil, clean and add Good Earth to the soil.

Hopefully you are in a legal state. A neighbor of mine had his outdoor grow busted but they zero'd in on the single poppy for serious charges.
A friend of mine got busted for an indoor grow, but one of the room mates was growing indoor poppies as well, same result.

An old member here has a few of them for sale on his website. Legit seller. https://docsdankseeds.com/shop

Nice setup!
I'm excited to see whether they survive the switch to outdoors. They are easily stunted and even killed, if there is a significant temperature difference.
I just started a few of my own, I sprouted 3 outdoors and 3 indoors in rockwool to give them a kickstart, but none of these survived the switch. Now all 6 are sprouted outdoors.

As I'm sure you know there have been done tons of research on Poppies and it's all available. I'd say the most important info I've extracted is to give plenty Phosphorus + some Nitrogen for increased opium production (Bonemeal NP 7-8 ). Also keep them wet early veg stage, and stress them with drought in flower. Potassium reduces morphineproduction so I'm keeping that to a minimum.

One question, I'm assuming you grow the Danish Red Flag because it's potent? I couldn't find much info on them, all I know is Lauren's Grape are potent and Giants are, well, giants.

Thanks! I ended up planting what I had outside. The transplant went well. I had to stake some of the Giants because I over watered.
