I haven't found that deal..best I find is 206$ Canadian for the 800 version and 154 for the 400 watt one. I keep seeing that the 800 draws around 375 watts.if I knew that was true..id try it out.

Go with timber grow lights cob. These light kick ass man !
lol...will be getting two of those...just trading in my nissan for a Porsche and then going to pick up these 'cheap' lights. I don't know why anyone would want something for a hundred or 2 hundred dollars as a light..they have better ones for 800-1000$ as well! The price difference is almost nothing right? lol

Maybe because the lights you are looking at are garbage? Seriously, there is very little info about the actual chips they are using. The technical details are almost non existent.

You don't have to buy a giant timber rig for $1000. Their 250 watt and 300 watt Citizen frames would likely crush that chinese Amazon light you have your eye on. Or you'd simply be better off with a vented 600 or a ceramic 315 or quantum boards.

How big is your space?

Oh, and before you waste your cash, let me help you out here - https://www.amazon.com/Roleadro-Greenhouse-Germinating-Flowering-Generation/dp/B01IVQ96WW/ref=sr_1_5?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1493397879&sr=1-5&keywords=cree+led

^ That thing is used, but there is no way it's older than 2 years. The Cree chips that light uses are good for 5 years, if not more.

I have 2 800 watt eBay China cobs.. They do indeed suck ass. I have been slowly adding and replacing them with 4x50 watt Cree and citizen cobs from.. u guessed it.. timber. Each 200 watt legit cob has literally put out two times the grams, not per watt, but per Fixture!!(200 watt Cree vs 375 watt actual draw shit China cob) with no changes, and uses about 60% of the power.

I'm telling you from experience... don't buy them.

I would gladly sell u mine but I would honestly feel ashamed to do that..

I had 2 vented 600s in a 4x8 Secret Jardin. Last year, I pulled the sixes, and replaced them with 900 watts of Cree/Citizen. First light was a Tasty until I realized that Timber was a 15 minute drive from my house. I've been consistently been getting the same numbers I was before, but with 300 watts less and less heat. I was also able to eliminate the inline fan that was pulling off the hoods for an additional 75 watts saving. One more advantage is that the tops of the plants can get a lot closer to the cobs than they could the hoods without burning - perfect for low ceiling tents. My big room is framed and has 2 more feet of ceiling space versus my tent, so I run a 600 still in there, with 315s at each corner. Gonna eventually swap out the 600 for 600 watts of cobs.

I know the higher priced ones, which have cree diodes, for sure produce better than the Chinese garbage so to speak, but for a hundred dollar light like the mars 300..i was able to grow almost 8 oz's dry off four plants..3 were ready after 10-12 weeks, the regular took a few weeks more, but I got 4.5 oz's dry off it..with just an old mars 300 and a few small cfl bulbs. im sure the cree/quality led's produce more and better, but when someone is starting out..we all know what's best..when u buy a car..we all know what's better..but not everyone can buy a Mercedes, hence why we look for lower quality, because its what's affordable in the moment. Why else would someone buy a 500$ stove or 800$ fridge..we know the 2000$+ ones are better and have more features and so on..but there is a reason there are cheaper ones..because not everyone can get the best of the best!:)

Dude you want to pay $200 for a 800w piece of crap. When you can buy a good light with less RATED watts for the same price. Ive been doing this for 6 months now. I learned fast that cheap over rated lights are junk. Just like a car amp. Sure it says 1000w but puts out actually 200w. Cause its junk. But you know what. Its your money so you do what you want. Its that simple. I did. So can you. Its just advice you should take into consideration thats all man. Also do you work on cars or something ?

Alright. Ignore everyone then.

I average 44 ounces off 8 plants under 900 watts of Cree and Citizen cobs in a 4x8 area.

BTW - the used light I linked to is better than that rubbish you're considering.

If I were you, I'd step up my budget $100 and get this - http://timbergrowlights.com/200-watt-citizen-clu048-4-cob-grow-light-kit/

You can build a frame for it for under $40 using L shaped aluminum pieces from Home Depot. You'll have a light that will give you solid performance for at least 5 years, not to mention that you'll get far better results than the light you're considering will deliver.

Forums like this exist for a reason. Try listening to people.

I definitely understand going for the best bang for your buck.. but again.. with some smart shopping and asking around.. you could easily get a 200 watt citizen cob frame for not much more than say... a "800" watt China cob and have much much better results!!! And not many new growers(if that is who this info is for) could possibly hope to pull 8 ounces (230ish) grams off a 135 watt actual draw mars 300 so that is just bad info in my opinion. Again.. prolly doable.. but if this info is for newer growers, they may expect to get half that if they are very lucky with a first grow. Again, all this is only my opinion and I absolutely respect and appreciate anyone else who may have differing experiences.

Ps... above posts link is precisely what I also would recommend. If ya have a few more bucks cree may be slightly better, but going for best bang for your buck, that's a winner for sure. Most of what you will read from experiences of others, many started out with cheep China leds with the same exact mindset as you and ended up spending the $ later for the good lights, and either box their cheapos, or only use em for veg or maaayyybe supplemental.

Im a new grower..one year in..but have done extensive research..mostly about plant biology and yes lights as well. In my opinion, the people who are asking/looking at 'cheaper' alternatives in lighting, are doing so because that's what the budget calls for, trying to get the best for what you can afford to pay. Yes it's easy to say at times..well for x amount more you can get much better..I think that's common knowledge most of the time..spending more gets you better, its why I reference cars, no, im not a car guy, just trying to point out we all know what quality is..we don't choose the 'cheaper' quality because its what we think is best, its what we can pay for..its why people drive kia's (no disrespect intended..i take the bus), or people wear a 200$ suit instead of a thousand dollar one..we're trying to get started for some and upgrading for others..yes most 'chinese' led's aren't of great quality...the only led's that are, if not diy, are easily over a thousand dollars..when you can learn to grow a few oz's every 3 months with minimal cost..for many people that's enough..if one is looking to produce even on a semi-commercial grow..then yes..you have to go for the best lighting..it depends also on one's goals.
With 3 auto's in the area, and the one photo plant, I added mars 300 at week 8, and started to flower the regular photo (money maker) the same night. The auto's were cut within 2-4 weeks and the photo was left alone for 6 weeks under the mars 300 and 23 watt cfl's (only lights I used prior to the mars 300). The grow for 4 plants produced almost 8 oz's, with 4.5 from photo plant..electricity costing about 50$ for the entire grow. So if one is just looking to produce personal smoke, it can be done cheaply.

..the only led's that are, if not diy, are easily over a thousand dollars.
Do you have reading comprehension issues? Seriously - wtf???

You're talking about a Mars 300 and a cheap af amazon chinese shit light. The one you linked to was I believe 200 watts(sorry if that's inaccurate). You can get a 200 watt kit from Timber for $100 more. $100 - is that really some insurmountable hurdle? $100? Again, and this is the last time I'm gonna fucking tell you, that light will crush the bs chinese junk you have your eyes on. You don't need a $1K Timber rig if it's overkill - it's retarded to even suggest such a thing.

You know what? Fuck it - just buy your chinese junk. I'm sick of trying to help people on this forum who clearly don't want help.

People with far more knowledge than you offered advice that you decided not to take. You're using a fucking Mars. Do you drive a Yugo?

Have fun failing at life.
