Possib fungus flies/knats

Just a quick question w/pics. I think I have a colony of fungus flies in my single flowering female. I know they come from the soil staying too damp. I just moved my girl into a 5 gal bucket and put her on top of the tray I was using for the old pot she was in. Little did I know it was sitting on the tray so tight that it was not letting air in or the water out so the bottom layers of soil were very damp. I tossed a no pest strip in the room and have set her onto a new tray so the soil is drying out now. Just wanted to post a few pics of some of the hundreds of dead little bastards I've been finding around the floor to make sure I was correct in what type of critter I think I'm dealing with. Once again thanks for any and all help the rollitup community has been great.

if i were you i'd check your soil as they lay their eggs in the soil. The adults(the flies)only live for a very short time, where as the larvae stage last for anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks and in that time they will be eating your roots. The fungus gnat larvae look like tiny little maggots. I have had problems with these in the past but, they are easily dealt with, a few doses of fungus gnat off and they will start showing up dead on top of your soil. If left untreatedthey can lead to other problems like mites and virus' and diseases.

Cool thanks for the advice. I've let the soil dry out. I'll go dig around a bit and see if I can see the little bastards. I'm glad I only have the one plant in my flower room. As soon as she's done in about 10 days im going to bleach the hell out of the place and not over water again.
