The owner(s) of a road should be able to decide how the road rules will be administered. If I don't like it, I could always hop in my flying car or take another road. How does that work when the system relies on everyone? What would happen if you all of a sudden decided it was ok to not obey traffic lights and not stop at red lights because you disagree with them? Sometimes you have to do things which you don't agree with. As long as the act being done doesn't harm you. If it's just because you're inconvenienced, that's not a good enough reason.
Maybe you can run a red light and no one gets hurt. It doesn't mean you have any right to complain when a pig pulls your over and gives you a ticket.
