Possible cop trouble.

So I got woken up about 30 minutes ago by my landlord calling me telling me the police called him and were looking for me. Now I'm not sure what it is about exactly, but obviously Id rather them not see my grow op. So my question is, they cant come in at all without a warrant? Or if they come in they cant go digging through doors and drawers?

Cops do what they want when they want. You can tell them they dont have a warrent, they cant do this, dont do that and they do what they feel like. You better call them, and get your butt down there before they come to your door, in which case they will find your plants and charge you with them.

It does not matter if it holds up in court or not

Just go turn yourself in. You don't want to give them any reason to come to your house even if it's just to do a knock and talk.

Get a lawyer and have him contact the cops and see what this is all about. Lawyers are expensive, but usually worth it.

Do yourself a favor and go down to the station.... As long as they don't have a warrant.. They can't come in, UNLESS you invite them in or they ask to come in to talk and you let them, then your screwed, This gives them freewill to go through your shit....Don't fall for the "can we come in to talk" con....

If they say, "No. We just want to talk to you." ...tell them you want a lawyer present before you speak with them....if they put you in custody after you tell them that, don't refuse arrest! Main thing is, don't say a mother fucking thing to a cop....he is only a worker bee for the prosecutor. If your criminally charged with anything it is between you, the prosecutor and the judge....you'll never see that fucking cop asking all the questions again, so he can't help you shit, don't let'em lie, he just wants you to tell on yourself.....

Really the only thing I can think of, I sold a few "hot" items on ebay recently. Id really rather not go down to the station but I dont want to sit here and wait either. If Im not home can they come in? Plus the new MW3 should be here in about 2 hours, fuck

Oh, well that's a slightly different situation then. Get as high as possible for two hours and then play MW3 all night and deal with it tomorrow.

never liked "at the door meet and greet" with police .. they could always smell something or say they did ... best not to have them at your place

Yes, listen to trichrome's advice. Do not talk to these cops without a lawyer. If you cant get/afford a lawyer to find out why they are looking for you, don't talk to them. Make them arrest you, then they have to assign a public defender to you. People think they can talk their way out of problems with the cops, very few can. The cops have special training and years of experience getting people to incriminate themselves. Don't fall for it, keep your mouth shut!

Something similar happened to me but except in my case the cops was already at my house since the cops where called there by my brother in law, anyhow long story short the cops was waiting for me and asked for permission to search home I said no but to my surprise they had already done a search inside my rooms, so once I said no immediately they handcuffed me. I ended waiting for almost 5 hrs before they actually got a search warrant. I took it to court and judge looked at the 1 cop that actually showed up out of 15 minimum and said you can't be searching peoples home just because you feel like it. I beat the case. So if I was you I would do something with plants asap and see wtf they want. If you don't show up it can get worse. But make sure the plants are out.. best of luck to you......
