Hi everyone. I wanted to start a thread for a kind of "Consumer's Guide" for people who might be new to the scene or who might be overwhelmed by the many choices -as well as all the gabby, flirty "bud tenders" who really don't know what they are talking about and make things even more clouded and confusing.

Not bragging, but I am old(er) and well-versed in the world of cannabis and there is an abundance of dried-out, low/no terpene, poorly processed marijuana out there to avoid! Very, very few people are doing it correctly -probably just a symptom of the way the business works. Hopefully, this thread will help give some people a shortcut through the woods.

Damn! I thought consumers would be motivated to post some real reviews instead of looking through all the marketing hype and hoping for the best! -to save people from buying poor-quality marijuana and motivate commercial growers to seek to produce the highest quality possible....no?

I strongly believe that some of our fellow stoners/growers that jumped into the biz are now into some shady shit since it became big money. That is the reason you can find sour diesel on the top shelf at a dispense that has little to no terps and/or dried out.

However if you know your weed, you can find pretty good weed too. I see a lot of weed where you can tell the grow went bad but they still push it on the shelves.

Recently for me.... Bio-diesel, cherry pie, pineapple express, Jack herer, chuckles og, were all pretty good. I even found some thc bomb that have all been good pot.

The chuckles og was sale bud that was the freshest weed I've had in a while, great hash flavor. Kinda tripped me out seeing thc bomb in a dispensary.

Oh yeah! Listen....I have a friend who is one of the partners at a HUGE commercial producer. Before he got into that, he was a private grower -about 100 plants -all of it was incredible, organic, flavor all day long, etc. AFTER about the first couple months, the business had acquired a cut of L.A. Confidential that was great. However, after a couple runs, the quality started to go way down. Now, it's all dried out, no terpenes and all the trichomes are clear when scoped. The demand was so high, they couldn't fill it and started just putting stuff out before it was finished just to meet the quota, As a result, the demand has gone way down and they aren't moving nearly as much product. You would think they would take the time to start upping the quality again and getting it back to where it was....but, nope. It just doesn't matter to them, now. Instead, they just put more product into more stores and aren't doing anything about the quality...and that seems to be working fine...so why would they change, now?

There are SO many choices and SO many people who really don't know what to look for, the quality really doesn't matter to the business. It's the "McDonald's Effect" as I call it. In essence, just put a massive amount of cheap, fast-growing "show-bud" out there and people who are used to smoking shit, anyway, won't care. They'll buy just it because it's convenient....and good enough for a Friday night keg party at the frat house! Real connoisseurs are growing their own, anyway, so they don't really affect the commercial market as much.

You're right, though...There ARE still some good strains and brands out there...and that was what I was hoping to corral in this thread.

Green Dot extracts are ok at best.
Altus thc pills suck.
Double Black extracts are pretty damn good.
Concentrated Love extracts are damn good too.

At my local dispensaries sometimes the weed is grown by them, sometimes it's not. Sometimes you find seeded buds, sometimes premature seeds, sometimes mature seeds. I'm not sure if the house grown buds are the bad ones or not.

I did get a few Bruce Banner seeds that I grew out. It hermied, but I managed a seed free harvest. It's pretty damn good weed, and mine tastes better than the dispensaries did.

I was in Denver a couple weeks ago....stopped by a place on Broadway called "Sticky Buds" -nice place.

Bought some really blueberry-smelling DJ Short's Blueberry (flower)...and some Green Crack Rosin batter. Both were very good and the price was really fair. I was out the door with an eighth of flower and a 1/2 grams chunk of batter for $60. Very friendly people there and a nice, clean place.
