Post your reservoir set up? trying to get watering ideas

Was thinking about buying a plastic garbage bin, dropping a pump in there, then some how adapting a garden hose so i can water indoor - is that a viable idea? how do you all do it? what adapter would i need?

also any help on pump purchases, I had bought a "400GPH" pump by vivosun, and it barely can generate 3ft of lift - so any advice there for brand/gph pumps to buy would be helpful as well

(Winter run, heater needed.)

If automating. Be sure timer supports on/off programming to seconds, if needed.

As for sizing. The longer the hose and more volume/pressure would require more more power. Hopefully others have info.

thanks for the ideas, what pumps are yall running for indoor. with outdoor i dont run a res i just hook up drip line with a timer to the spigot on the wall,

how are you filling that indoors? and what size pump are you using with what size tubing?

I mix fresh batches of nutes in a second recycle bin. RO water from RO filter.
Then use a pump to transfer from one to the other. Half inch tubing, to 1/4 inch open lines.

The pump is just to keep the nutrient solution stirred and aerated. It just sits on the bottom of the reservoir. The tubing goes into the tent and there are 3mm feeder lines coming off it that go to blumats. It's a gravity system.
 
I use a 55gal drum from Craigslist with a lid, 600gph pump tied to black hydro flex tubing.

At each plant site I have rainbird 4gph emitters and two per plant location. Outside of the pump the system is less then $100. Water cycles are controlled by a timer.
 
Very happy with Brute trashcan here; I didn't want the thinner plastic trashcans that I feared might rupture and flood my upstairs. I wanted as tough of a can as you could buy without going industrial and those Brutes fit the bill. I'm also using their totes for SIPs and very happy with them. Tough and they offer two sizes that stack nicely for about a 7gal rez in my SIPs.
 
I recently switched to buying Danner pumps and I'd say from their heft/weight alone there does seem to be a bit of the 'you get what you pay for' when it comes to pump quality and durability/performance.
