View attachment 3440354 I did a bunch of seeds last year. This year I hit up the nursery. Early girl type. They aren't getting to big though. I think I'll throw some beefsteak out tomorrow. It's funny I spend a lot of time at nurseries now a days.

Ya I got them in like 2 weeks into May ? Gotta check my post. I did feed them some grow big.

I just threw in some American Pickle cuc and lemon cucumber. My habanero plant has been growing since May 1st and still small as all hell. My white buffalo has already pass it.

The pepperonci are going slow to. Zucchini is taking g off like crazy. Wasn't prepared for the space they take. I'll make it work though :bigjoint:

yeah, zucchini get huge.. i didn't get any zucchini this year, just the yellow squash, so that means no zucchini bread, which completely bums me out.

You can have some of mine. I'm actually the only one in the house that loves zucchini. My strawberries aren't fruiting yet either which bums me out.

where does everyone get their starts, or do you grow from seeds?? i have a bunch of different seeds, mostly tomato heirloom variety, and i grew a few out a few years ago, but not this year..
i spent close to like $150 on starts from like home depot or lowes or w/e.. i think i got close to 40 plants total, what a racket..
I start trays of tomatoes and peppers inside around February/March, everything else direct sow. I've got volunteer tomatoes coming up everywhere outside from last year, a few of them are pretty stout plants so I'll probably let them go.

i'm going to do that next year i think.. i didn't have a garden the past two years, and was a bit late in deciding to do one this year, so i didn't have the time to start from seeds..

plus when you start from seeds, you can get all of those crazy exotic varieties and what not.. don't have to depend on only being able to grow what the stupid ass rip off places carry..
Exactly, not only are they cheaper you can grow the varieties you want. I save seeds from a lot of things like lettuce and various greens, peas, beans etc. I try to spend as little money on the garden as possible even when I have it to blow, the stakes were a big investment for me. lol

i hear you loud and clear. i grow a garden in the summer to save a bit of coin on fresh veggies, plus it's just awesome to grow your own food imo.. but the point is, it really shouldnt cost an arm and a leg to grow your own food..
i nearly fell over when the lady rung my crap up.. $179 or so crap after taking $20 in cash... i was just grabbing plants that looked good, and never even looked at the price of one of them..

luckily i had bought some chicken wire fence and posts a few years ago that were sitting in the garage, so all i really needed was the plants and the weed guard crap..

That is true.... I do a Craigslist check for vegetable plants too. I think I'll start some tomato seeds next time. Only my zucchini and habanero and some perennials are from seed. Oh and of course my mmj.

@racerboy71 I've done that too so you aren't alone. I tend to spend big, but lately it's all been garden supplies n shit. I guess part of being an "adult"

"Got them new Jordans? "

"Naw, but I got a nice garden..." :P

who do you order your seeds from ?
i think i was using baker creek heirloom, plus i got some jersey tomato seeds online straight from rutger's universities site..

I just started the pot thing this year nowhere to put in ground my dad growing from seed and he's using ground so I decided to use pots see how it works out, but I started them in small pot grew em up and just put em in bigger pot like around beginning of june they have taken off, I truely believe they would be better in the ground but well see by end of august maybe september. All our past grows of tomatoes have been in ground just wanted to try organic method this year see how it turns out plus our soil is really clay. Plus they getting more light since they are on the roof compared to being in the ground where they wouldnt get as great of light considering we have big trees blocking it
