enough water so that it seems not dried out. try picking up the pot, all you have to do is let it dry out once then slowly give it some water. once you think the soil is fully saturated and some water runs out, you stop. then you wait again for it to dry up. If the leaves on your plant droop you waited a lil too long, hope this helps

There are a couple different things you can do to check and the easiest way of doing this is doing as Nizza suggested and learn the weight of your pots when wet and then as they become dry water then and definitely before they start to wilt because wilting especially during flower could be detrimental to your plants but so can over saturating. You could also use the two inch deep method where you push your finger gently two to three inches into the soil and if it is dry then it is time to water but by far the best way you will find is getting a hydro meter that tells you exactly how dry your medium is giving you full control.
Hope that helps!

You want to soak it until there's water coming out the bottom of the pots. Then wait until the pot is light and the soil is dry up to your second knuckle. Overwatering isn't the problem people face. It's watering too frequently that can be a problem. Cannabis likes a wet to dry cycle. Full soak, then dry out.
How often you water is going to depend on the type of soil you're using, the size of the pots and the temp and humidity in your grow area.
You don't need a hydrometer. All you need is a finger.

Sounds right. Temps of almost 80 degrees with low humidity in a 3 or 4 gallon pot with good ventilation, using quality soil with the correct perlite to soil ratio, would put you on about a once a week watering schedule from my experience.
I use 5 gallon buckets and if it's a hot and dry week I have to water once a week. If it's cool and humid I may be watering every two weeks.

By the way you say you're at 7.5 weeks of veg.?? You're going to have monster plants on your hands when they're done flowering. Most people will switch to flower at a max of 4 weeks for indica and with sativa they'll only veg for 1 or 2 weeks then switch to flower. Hope you have the room for them.

Yup...but its kinda wierd my plant is only 11 1/2 inches tall is tht wierd for almost 8 weeks.plus i topped it twice at the top nd a couple times around the base. Did this slow my growth?

topping doesn't slow growth. It makes the growth wider but the plant can still grow tall. Your problem isn't from topping.

What kind of light are you using and how far away is it? There was a guy on here in your same position last week who was using t5's from 3 feet away and had a 12 inch plant after a couple of months. Is that you?

Anyway your plant should be close to 5 feet tall at this point if it were a sativa or it should be a 3 foot tall giant bush if it's indica so I'd say switch it to flower and start some new seeds. This plant is not working out so I wouldn't waste too much time on it.

You want your grow from start to finish to be around 3 months. You could have done a sativa strain and vegged it for a week and then put it into flower and you'd have 5 foot plants right now that would be 4 weeks out from being done. You also could have vegged an indica strain for a month then put it into flower and you'd have a 3 foot bushy plant a month out from being done.

If you're vegging a plant for 8 weeks and all you have is a 1 foot plant then something is wrong. It's either a serious runt or the enviroment you're providing isn't suitable for growth.

Not me but..... i started my grow off with 4 100watt cfl..it waz growin very fast couple inches a day, i switched. To. Hps at 3. Weeks 2-3 feet away with 2 cfls on the sides to get a mixture. Of the sky nd the sun .... good ventilation, fan blowing constantly , temps-77-79 , humidity 30-50...but i think i figured my problem it mite b the ph of. The soil. Cause every. Time i water its 6.1-6.4 and comes out 5.7-.5.9... mite be a lock out.

just for the record 2 to 3 feet away is too far. I do about 9 inches with a 400 watt. You should hold the backside of your hand under the light where it is so close that it hurts your hand and then back off until you can hold your hand without it burning. That point where you can hold your hand under the light without it burning is the distance you want.
I think you're dealing with a runt plant. I doubt it's the ph b/c even plants that get very little nutes can grow. I don't think it's the light distance either in this case. Get some new seeds of good genetics and try again.
