1. buy regular (not feminized) 10 pack of autoflower seed-x
2. grow them out and hope for a few good males
3. seed the girls
4. 5 weeks later collect your new 1000 seeds and make sure to dry them at least 2 more weeks
5. smoke some of your fresh buds
6. get to planting your next round

By "massive" do you mean tall? I can really only accommodate about 20" maybe 24" without having to turn my 400 down to 250.

nope first time, flower room is a mess so i moved them back to veg area inder my t8's... i will keep ya poster. seems like they stoped growing for a few days

Well, the point is you won't get the same yield. If you get 10% more per plant for using a larger pot that's 40% more, but if you can use smaller pots but have another plant that's 100% more. (Those numbers aren't accurate) ~$20.00 (including the soil and pot) is pretty cheap for an ounce to me...

Blimey, I think you're missing my point. If you get the same yield in a 4 gal pot with one plant that you would get with two plants in 2 gal pots,why would you want to waste the seed?
Regardless, it still only costs around $20.00 to grow one femmed AF to harvest which is a hell of a good price for weed!

Ohmy, I did not know that you could buy regular AF seeds until I read this thread! From what I've read and heard , most of us do not try to breed plants as we usually grow less than 12 plants at a time. (I am only allowed 8 mature plants at a time) Is it ok to ask on the forum where to find the regular AF seeds? I have to harvest this grow of regular size plants in ten days, my next grow will be femmed AF's but I would like to try to breed for some seeds on the subsequent grow.



I have not tried AF before so I'm pretty intersted in how this turns out.

Short Stuff Seeds, has some regular autos, personally, i would cross the regulars males from short stuff, with a primo breeder's AF, like dinafem

Your not going to double your yield just from doubling pot size. There's a certain point where going any bigger doesn't really help. Also if you grow two plants instead of one you can grow different strains, that's also an advantage of buying seeds regularly.

Right now i got my plants in 3 gallon smart pots and they are getting really big.

Blimey, you're still missing my point. I'm not talking about doubling my yield at all.

Assumethat I am growing one strain right now and I am buying seeds....What is the advantage to growing two smaller plants the get the same results yield as one larger plant.

I doubt you would get the exact same yield, and I just transplanted in to 2 gallon smart pots.
The thread is about whether you would get more with less plants but big ones or more with more small plants.

i got my small autos in (us) 3 gal pots .... they are 4 weeks old and have masses of roots hanging out the bottom of the pots.... pot size it key, i do understand that there is a limit to how big an auto will grow/yeild .... but they will do far better planted straight into large 3-5 gal if not larger, from germination

Well, I just prepped (6) 3 gal pots for my first autoflower grow which I will plant this weekend. It seemed like a good compromise between 2 gal and 4 gal.

2 Short Stuff Onyx
2 Buddha White Dwarf
2 Sweet Seeds Big Devil

Like I said, this is my first attempt at autoflowers so we'll see how it comes out. (At the risk of going off topic) Has anybody had any experience with these strains?

no sorry bruv ... not tried any of them (first time auto grower here) .... 3 gal pots LOVELY .... big Devil might appreciate a larger pot mind you (but i'm no expert)

sure there is several breeders that sale regular seeds, my favorite auto that I have is one I made crossing two different autos RRF x Purple Jems(green pheno) I and everyone that tryed it likes it better then ether of the parents but don't get me wrong they both were excellent... I don't do many plants at a time ether I only have 12-14 autos at a time in bud, just enough to get me and mine to the next harvest every 5 weeks, I do however start replacement troops 3 weeks before they finish, that way I have them sexed and ready for there 2 gal pots when I harvest...and for seeds go to the attitude seed bank...

I guess with 53 responses, we have determined that AF mj is best grown in 2-5 gal(us) pots?

go to the seed finder and hit regular and autoflower there is 2 and a part pages of seeds... hit auto and fem. and you get 15 more pages if you want any fem seeds...

A little change of plans. this morning I planted 3 Sweet Seeds Big Devil in 5 gal pot. 3 Short Stuff Onyx, 2 in 5 gal pots and 1 in a three gallon pot. 3 White Dwarf in 3 gal pots.

I'll report how each one does compared to pot size

That will not be accurate or relevant because you are growing multiple plants in one pot.

Oh,no,n, no, nooo. I have one seed each per pot. I must not have explained that very well. So I'll keep you posted..

Ahh, my bad then. That sounds like a good experiment, please post back as it progresses.
