Hi I am going to transplant some plants into bigger pots. however I am being limited to pot size.

I only have 2 size pots im not sure of the dimensions but i have a picture to compare the two. they are both about the same height.

the black one is a bit larger in diameter and keeps that size all the way to the bottom. whereas the brown one which is made of some sort of paper material gets smaller in diameter as it gets to the bottom.

is it a big deal using the brown one instead? my guess is that its about 20-25 liters. and would the black pot make that much of a difference scene as i would have to use almost 2 bags of soil to fill it?

thanks! IMG_0309[1].jpgIMG_0310[1].jpgIMG_0311[1].jpg

I have a little experiment going on right now with various pot/growbag sizes (from 3 gallon up to 10 gallon). I'm trying both black plastic pots and a few "smart-pot" type (cloth) pots. Check out my thread: https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/541462-2012-guerilla-grow-fruit-salad.html

I'm doing the same thing with my tomatoes and peppers this season. Will probably be a better comparison, since I have four or five of the SAME peppers and/or tomatoes for each type of pot (whereas my mj strains are mixed). So far I haven't noticed any difference...but it's early in the season.

That said, looks to me like you could use either pot, since there doesn't seem to be a big difference in size. Black pots supposedly allow the rootball to get warmer in the summer sun, so if heat is likely to be an issue in your area, the light colored (coco fiber-based?) brown pots might be a better choice. Personally, I prefer lighter colored pots for growing outdoors, since they're easier to conceal at the type of site I'm using...but Home Depot sells camouflage duct tape nowadays, so that could be an easy solution to that problem. Not sure if you have HD's up there in Canada.

Generally, I think most people here would recommend using the bigger of the two (to grow bigger plants), but if you're not intending to grow massive plants, either of those pots would probably work fine.

I've never used the coco-fiber pots before, so I'd be interested in your results. Black plastic pots, of course, are time-tested.
