Pot sizes/#: opinion plz!

My smaller grow area is about to pop off and I need an opinion on some things...
First, general setup- Area is approx. 7.5'x4'x9' (height). AC Infinity Inline pushing air out and 8000 btu AC pulling air in from outside. Hurricane figure 8 oscillating fan circulating air inside room....dehumidifier (for later), flood table covers entire ground in which pots will sit in. Soil grow with amendments, HLG 550 LED lights (2)....room is a frame wrapped with poly film.
THAT SAID, been told 7-10 gallon pots lined up in a horizontal row OR up to 18 5-gallon pots (2-3 deep...more smaller plants but MORE of them). Not a ton of walking room because of space constraint worth mentioning). Growing from seed.
NOTE; plz ask anything you want, beyond this info.
SO.... pot size and #s that would work best in your opinion? Plz help, thank u!

I did well with 8x 5gal cloth pots in that sort of space pulling on average 7-8oz a plant. But if had to do it again I would go with 7gal cloth pots.
I found 10gal was just a bit OTT.
But im a coco dtw guy so its a bit different.

How is the layout in the room, like where do you access it? how much of it can you get to and how much walk room do you need?
I can access my whole tent from one side so Its full with zero walk room. Your situation sounds like that would be impossible?

Totally depends on how long you wanna veg. Bigger plants = less plants. Less veg time = more plants.
Renfro- Yeah that's what I was told....seems like I've been doing just bigger plants, and this would be possibly better for me (w/ less vegging). Generally (I realize strain dependant) would u veg like 2-3 weeks with smaller plants/more plants? Or?

Coreywebster- Seems like a fair amount in 5-gallons (that's what I've used formerly). So with soil/amendments, would you say that 7 gallons would still be your recommendation....or which size (just so I'm clear here)?
I access the room in th he front. Reinforced velcro on bottom and sides that comes open. Have not grown in space yet, so unsure if this will be the case...but I'd anticipate not being able to get in there at all. Access from front of area only is most likely what will happen. Meaning, if plants are more than 1 dimensional/ 2-3 deep, it would be hard or impossible to access the deeper parts of area.
Please respond with more, as I understand the pros and cons....however I'd love more convo, so I can start out best possible way! Thank you!

When not given plant count limitations then a SoG with little to no veg is the way to go. Only some strains can do well with no veg, some will need a little. You want plants that grow straight up with one big cola, so no topping only lollipopping.

Yeah I think its kind of pushing the limits of a 5gal and bigger makes it a bit easier. Hard for me to say if 7s would be ideal for you since I don't do soil.
If you don't have limitations on plant count then maybe take Renfro's advice on a SOG, smaller plants are easier to take in and out, move around, inspect and isolate if need be. Pulling out a 2x2 plant , though its not huge is tricky when access is limited. Proper training can be a PITA.

100% agreed. Hmmmm....still thinking but BOTH you and renfro have great points and advice! Feel free to follow up, etc if you want. In any case, much thanks (both people)!

this grow I am doing a mix of air-pot depending on what type of seed
My biggest plants are going in my #15 pots which i think are about 12 gallons. These are Feminized seeds, I like big ass pots because they don't require as much watering, and are easier to control watering in. There are only 4 of these so I will not have to do much maintenance on them just bunch of water and nutes here n there

My next plants are going in my #5 pots. these are 3.3 gallons. Since I'm using regular seeds, I am going to do a SOG type run for the pheno hunt and these will be the final pots... The reason being is I don't wanna have to transplant, and I will be limited on space when initially sexing all the plants. I am not going to waste time or space I am just going to clone each plant and label the clones and seeds, and see the end product later.

all of my seedlings go in .7 l pots to save space and soil. after this stage I decide either a #5 or a #15

i just read about the lack of access and using those #15 pots I really had to lean in there! but at least there was only 4 of them to fill up my 4x4 tent , and i could really just water the crap out of them

Why not scrog it? With some training in veg, 4 five gallons pots could fill that room.
Well when growing from seed there is an advantage to growing more beans, better chance of getting that one bad ass phenotype. Also all that time in veg training would be wasted on any males.
