No, lots of people use fluorescent lighting during veg and HID for flower. If you wait too long they could eventually start to stretch depending on the intensity/number of fluorescent fixtures. If possible I would have one fixture hanging over the plants and then another positioned vertically (after they reach about a foot). When you switch to HID just start up high (several feet) and lower the light over time so that they can better adjust to the more intense lighting.

I used a 4 Bulb T5 and it works fine i think i would like a bigger light for vegging but it works fine
