potency

my buds look and smell great. i cut them when the buds were about 50% brown hairs, dryed and cured them but they dont seem to be really potent get a slight head high and thats it.. any suggestions. when i cut them they looked so resinated they could o f been in magazine or something

i'm assuming you started with awesome bud ... how did you dry and cure it?

ya i did i dried the bud in a box for about 5 to 10 days and then cured the bud in mason jars, burping them every day --------- these things had lots of crystals and smelled great when i saw them i thought they looked like something out of a magazine

you cut too early.

patience and potency are practically synonymous.

i was thinking about that i went 60 days

60 days in the flower room and 50% of hairs were red but not long enough huh. how long do u think i should go i heard if u go to long u lose some o f the potency

Would you happen to know the strain? I think Sativas and sativa-heavy hybrids may take more than 8 weeks to finish. Also, i've never heard definitively but I often hear that a plant has been flowering for xx amount of time. I wonder - does everyone start the "flowering" time from the day they switch to 12/12 or the week or two after that when the plant actually starts flowering?

One other thing - I think the trichome color/opacity is the best way to determine when flowering is complete. Pistils are unreliable since they often turn red early or do not turn color at all.

Having said all that - it is hard to believe that even if you harvested a month early - you barely catch a buzz from smoking it.

All MJ plants produce resin. The Potency still depends on the gentics (strain) you used for seeds. Next time go with a good high Potency seed.
