Alright I don't know if anyones seen this out there or has tried it but I went to my local home depot and saw that miracle grow has come out with an organic mix...100% organic with organic nutes(not the usual harsh miracle grow formula)I looked at the NPK values and it was actually lower than soil ive used in the past...so I was wondering if you think it would be okay for my next grow??..one of the bags were open at the store and the soil looked very rich I think with some perlite added it could be a nice mix...but I'll wait for suggestions before buying thanks for comments

The regular mg has a ph of like 5.0. It screwed me up a few times. I would want to know the ph. If it is close to nutral then I would try it out.

from what my meter says its about 6.7 but I think my meter is broken because its been reading everything at that pH or somewhere near it..I think I'll have to get a new one and then get back to you on that one

If you live in an area that has a Home Depot, then you should be able to put this mix together:

2 parts Schultz's Potting Soil Plus.
1 part Perlite.
1 part Vermiculite.
1 part Worm Castings.
1 SMALL handful of Granulated Dolimite Lime per TWO gallons of mix.

All of the above should be available at your local nursery.

You won't need any fertilizers for the first 45 days of your grow with this mix. marijuana loves this soil mix.

alright thanks Vi...I believe I saw all those except maybe the Worm castings(also didn't look) at the home depot so I'll have to run buy and pick that up..Apreciate it

Check your local nursery for the worm castings. They may have to order it for you. Be sure to include it in your mix ... mj just LOVES the stuff.

Alright so I asked the customer service people about the miracle gro organic mix and they said its "neutral" with a pH between 5.0-7.5 which is a pretty broad range for one thing and thats not very neutral if it can be anywhere between that so I don't know what the guy was talking about...I guess you just got to hope for a high pHed bag of MG...that or add some pH+ to be on the safe side

Smoke dont scrimp around on the soil dude. I did and its just a waste of your effort in the end. Yea you get a little experience out of it, but if I could do it over again I would spend top dollar on the best soil for growing ganj. And you should too!

Whats wrong with the soil besides the pH being to low?? I don't mind spended a little extra for soil I know will grow good(if not great) plants...but if all I need to do is raise the pH it could be worth a try...I might just mix my dirt from scratch...any other soil mix favorites appreciated

it turned out alright...definently not that greatest soil in the world..make sure you do a 50/50 soil/perlite mix also as the soil can become compact without this mixture..if you look in my gallery I have pics of my plants that I used the MG soil with and their doing good...I dont think the soil has as good moisture retention as say shultz or something but you can definently get some descent plants from it

SmokeUmPipe your plants look awesome! When you say "you trained her" what do you mean by that? I am interested in your growing technique. What lights did you use, size of growing room, ventilation, ferts ect...

old post but if anyone is reading this, the above post is A++ always worked, seeds popped quick. You dont need a freakin 6 mixture

Sphagnum Peatmoss, perlite, verm, wormcasting (maybe little less worm casting not 1/3, but think about dudes who mix HUGE gallons of soil. Just have to have the correct measurements.

ViRedd ---- I'm starting my first grow this week. I like the simplicity of this mix. I'll be mixing my own soil in a 50gal bin and starting out 10 clones from a friends monster momma Widow. I'm gonna give this mix a shot to the letter from clone. Can't wait =)

I've ordered Jack's Classic 20-20-20 for veg and Jacks Blossom Booster 10-30-20

Should I use the Classic after 30-45 days using your soil mix? Also I'm only planning to Veg for 8 weeks or so before moving my plants to the flower room. Should I skip the 20-20-20 altogether and go straight to bloom fertilizer?

Hi all, i just started growing for personal use.
is this soil mix ok,
50% compost,
10% soil,
10% worm casting,
15% perlite and 15% vermiculite.
any suggestions to improve on this would be appreiciated.
