powder on clones

Are you going to do anything differently if it is? Just grow it out and take care of it.

It sounds like white powdery mildew. Prob from to much humidity to start the clones with. Why would someone even sell a clone in that bad of condition to someone else is just flat wrong. You can fix it yourself though. Get some cold pressed neem oil, and spray them once week for 3 weeks. Neem oil is great at future prevention of powdery mildew and nasty mites and shit like that.
