Power issue!

I am running a 600 watt hps with a 6 lamp t5 fixture and 4 intake and exuhast fans. Today when I had everything on along with some other things in the apartment the power went out.... Does anyone know what a typical apartment can handle??

You probably tried to run everything on one breaker. Even if theres 5 outlets in a room, sometimes they are on a single circuit with one breaker. You need to check your breaker box.

If your box isnt marked start mapping it out, turn off breakers and see what goes out, use a desk lamp or alarm clock to check for power in outlets and find out which ones are on different breakers.

You should have your 600w HPS on its own breaker, the rest should be fine on a single breaker depending on the size of the fans.

Im in a 1 bed appt and I run 2 x 1000w hps and a 250w hps and an AC and a shit load of fans, just on seperate breakers.

In addition to the above poster. I would like to add also that most likely you are on 15 or 20 amp circuit. If you go to the box each breaker sure have that ration on there. Go back and double check all of your amp ratings on your gear. Remember you will have more amps being used on start up of a device. So make sure you stagger your starts. You don't want to be pulling more than 12 amps if on a 15 amp circuit for a safe continuous load. I also noticed that when running my exhaust fan that it would trip my breaker that the light is on after it shut off. Try running the exhaust fans from a different room via heavy duty extensions and see if that won't help ya. Good luck!
