power outage.....

so an ice storm decided to strike my area, and knocked trees over etc onto the power lines, so i am out of electricity for a few days, i was told 3 days max.

right now i have some week old seedlings that have sprouted out of there rockwool, but my concern is are they going to be okay without light for that long? should i make an effort to move them? i dont want to move them out the house since the cold weather will probably destroy them???

currently they are in my closet at 60% humidity and about 59-61 degrees.

am i okay with watering a little and leaving them as is until electricity comes back?

i am super concerned since these are my first babies and i really dont want to see them go!

That's a crappy situation. Do you have anyway to get them in a window to at least get a little light on them until your power is restored?

Put them in the window. Nobody will know any different. I've seen plenty of seedlings that looked like weed but wasn't weed at all.

my issue is if i take it out of the closet, the surrounding area is cooler, and since it is winter, the days don't get too bright given the weather, is the daylight even enough for the plants to thrive?

It may not be enough, or it may be just enough to keep them alive until the power is back on. It sucks, but the only way to know is to give it a try. If you have some sort of battery powered light, and plenty of batteries, you might try getting a CFL bulb and putting it right over the plant.

ive had the power out for 3 to4 days with flowering plants and they were fine with no extra help. they stayed in the dark during that time and everything way aokay

see if you can buy those battery operated floros in the right temp

dont waste money just keep the lights off. better off than less or weird timing light thats asking for herms.

anyways i notice that one of the seedlings have sprouted to about 1.5 inches 2, the seed cap is still on it, just leave it? and spray more h20 on her?

FUCK, i hope electricity comes back on soon. it's true, you really overbaby and protect the shit outta your plants, even if they babies, and especially if its first grow lmao.

Alright here they are as of the moment. They grew more in the dark! I really hope power comes back soon



My question is are these girls ready to go into a 3 inch pot? I plan on leaving for a day tomorrow since I have to go away for a day for Xmas. I plan on putting the cubes into coco coir soaked in my nute water tomorrow morning before I go. Would this help recovery and normality when the power comes back on?

I just don't want them wilted when I come back.

So I take it u must be close to the same area as me. Ice storm did the same thing to me, lights flickered on...off...on offf about 3-4 times, I ran to my ballasts as quick as I could before it blew my bulbs, luckly it didnt but probably wasnt too good for them, re-striking them 4 times in a minute?? I shut them down all day, but all is back to normal for now, except the drive way, about a layer of ice 2inches thick.... nasty shit.

Ive left plants in the dark for a week before when my room was compromised....(pigs of couse) but I threw them in my buddies attic for a week till I found a new home for them, completely dark for 7 days they were yellow as shit but I worked them back under the light slowly over a week and they were fine. They were 3-4 months old plants, pretty hard to kill those things, their as tough as nails!!

My friend had 3 50 site cloners going and lost power, only 1 of them was all rockwool..... we lost 100 of them but the 50 in rw were ok... good luck, u get power back?

make sure they are sitting in a little tray of water so they dont dry up, and make sure you back the lights off for a day or two so it dont burn them, they are tiny huh?

Ouch. That's cause they're stretching to find light. It wouldn't be so bad on an established plant but seedlings =
Other people said to put em in a window. I'd do that personally to cut down on the stretch as much as possible. I'd go ahead and count on using something to brace them up with after the power comes back on until the stalks get strong enough to hold them up. That's some bad luck there man.
I guess mother nature has to give you indoor guys a sucker punch every now and then as well.

just a thought here, why dont you put the sprouts in soil? If your going hydro your first grow you will be seriously dissapointed come harvest day. I always suggest learning the works with soil then start to fuk with nature, I can tell you the sprouts do not like rockwoll, look at them. there are like 0 nutes in there. Go soil and do your self a favor.

it's fine if they stretch. when you transplant them just bury the stem deep in your soil/coco/whatever (unless you're just putting them into a bigger rockwool cube, then you can't), it will encourage the plant to grow more roots out of the buried section of stem.

so the power finally came back!

they seem to look okay, so i hope they are fine, back under the t5, 24hrs a day.

also germinated 4 more seeds, hope they come out alive, just placed them into rockwool, and the leaves are yellow-ish, i watered them and let them be hope they are alright.
