PPM intervals

I was wondering what sort of PPM increases people do on a feeding-by-feeding basis? Do you up your PPM by 100 per week? 50 PPM? Or do you stick to a feeding schedule from a nutrient company? Have you dialed in a specific way you feed your plants? Let's hear it.

Granted, all strains have different nutrient-needs (some may soak them up, while others are affected negatively at the slightest sign of too much), but I figured I'd probe the waters for a general rule of thumb.

Your plant will tell you in a hydro system if you need to up the nutrients or not. If your PH is dropping, you are overfeeding. If the PH raises you need to up the PPM. there is no real set time or calendar for adjusting ppm.

Once you get your nutes down you can start playing with your ppm to see what your plant likes. For example i can start my kush at 200 ppm and max out at 650ppm . My strain doesnt like high ppm range. Other strains can handle higher levels. My advice is start low and increase it slowely. Also when you start adding fkowering nutes you will need to drop the ppm of your base nutrients. Just a quick example :-) i like to feed on the lower end of ppm because i hateburning my plants and to be honest i get the best yeilds when i use less nutes.

Your total dissolved solids will most likely need to fall somewhere in these ranges
Clones/Seedlings
300-450 PPM
Vegetative
600-900 PPM
Flowering
1000-1250

Whenever you change your nutrients write on a calendar your TDS level, when you check your ph also check your TDS levels. If the value of the TDS has increased that means the food is too strong, add fresh water to your reservoir to dilute the TDS value back down. Similarly if your TDS value decreases your nutrient strength is too low, I would'nt add additional nutrients to the reservoir, instead at my next reservoir change I would increase the TDS value by a couple of hundred points. Ideally your TDS level should'nt fluctuate by more that fifty or so points between reservoir changes. If you keep records you will get a good idea week by week what the nutrient solution should be at after a cycle or so. Bear in mind that the light intensities, co2, and genetics will influence how strong you will need to keep your nutrient solution. Start your nutrients at a low strength and let the plants work their way up! Hope this helps.

i use canna and their web site works it all out for you even according to the amount of ppm in your water to start with and if you want to feed light, regular or heavy and of course for seedling, veg, and flowering stages thier pretty deailed in.

but Ted has a good plan also it looks like my c02 plan too, and thous nubers look good to me for a hanna ppm meter not another brand.
