Pre-Sex Odors

Im currently a little bit into flowering right now.

Sex hasnt show yet, but the smell is becoming quite potent.


So my question is, has anyone had any accurate guesses as to sex based off the smell?

Do females tend to stink more than males?

I have had a light smell through out the entire grow. I dont think you can tell sex by smell. The trics seem to smell more when broken. But by then its too late.

I have two females started from seed, just showed sex last week. One had only a chlorophyll smell similar to grass in the yard, and the other had a magnificent odor from the second week of growth. I took a clone of this one and it smells stronger than when on the main plant. There isn't really a way to tell sex from odor, but it will definitely influence your grow. Some love a stinky ass plant, others just can't have an overpowering odor due to security reasons. Sorry, went off on a tangent, hope it helps in some way.

It doesnt have that typical fresh plant smell. Its absolutely REEKS of MJ.

I know its natural to have some kind of odor male or female, but for being so young right now, the smell seems more potent than usual. Maybe it just means its a really good strain? (Unkown bagseed)

i have had some very stinky young plants that turned out to be male, so i don't think smell is a very good indicator. some people do use the smell as an indicator for choosing males for breeding, but i'm not one who believes you can generally judge a plant based on smell alone.

Smell is not an indicator at all, I had a 6ft male that smelled dank as fuck lol

No, your next assumption should be that it's a smelly strain. I've had some of the stinkiest stinkiest buds that have been utterly mediocre, and in the same way i have had bud that smells of very little, which has kicked my face off.

honestly you won't know till you smoke it, but i've had some mexi bagseed turn out INSANE, and that's when i was a major novice and only used bagseed. the stuff was in my top 15 and i barely knew what i was doing. i actually bought a 20 sack just for the seeds lol. if i'm gonna use bagseed i try to use bud that's WAY seeded. i figure it's a decent indicator that the plant was seeded by a male and less of a chance it came from a herm. anyway good luck on that grow. if it stinks now watch out later. i once thought my plants "stopped stinking". turns out i was just immune to the smell. my friend was the one who informed me i was stinking up the hallways. ha. you might want to look into smell control because buds stink way worse than foliage.

haha, i get my seeds the same way. I just find some dirt weed just for the seeds.
