predatory mites

I bought some ocean forest soil from the hydroponic store locally . Didnt pay attention . Planted 2 new germed purple wreck seeds in it. Few days later after they sprouted I was going to water them and noticed many bugs. they didnt hurt the plants , I didnt see one on the plants , just on the soil and rim of planters. Since then i have put few inches of sand over the soil and its now been week and i just looked and the bugs did not die and are still there . The sand did not allow them up but seems like it didnt kill them either . i took microscope and they look exactly like pred mites . They arent hurting the plants but i still want them dead . Anyone have any ideas that will kill them and not my seedlings?

Hmm...ya know, i was worried about that, myself. I just switched to FF about a month ago, and was wondering if it was possible that it could contain mites(especially the nasty types). Well, I guess that answers my question. Now I'll wait and see what everybody else has to say. :)

On a positive note....some guys buy them to take care of destructive pests, but I'm guessing you already know that?

letting the soil dry out can usually kill bugs, but i would use neem oil as well. Not sure if it will work for your particular bugs, but it works on most of them and is all natural
