preflower stretch and lighting

Hey all. I was wondering has any one tried to start flowering under a lower powered light then when the stretch stops put it under the high powered light? Wondering if it would result in wider or denser buds like they wouldn't stretch as much because the lower watts. I don't know might have been a silly question but first indoor grow here so I'm going for broke with my questions. After a bunch of reading of course. Please no smart ass comments the amount of them is to damn high lol

Yes i do. i veg under a 400 watt MH and when i flower i flip it to 12/12 for two wk. them put them under 1000 watt HPS I get a lot less stretch that way. Big improvement, each cola bud usually weights 1/2oz

Yep 2nd using the metal halide will stop with the stretch but i wouldn't do more then 10 days but end of the day it's up to you and what ever you do best of luck

Yes dirtynerd is right. Its strain related. i run a heave sativa and its known for stretch so i go 14 days. Its all trial and error. wonch you grow the strain a time or two your get a fill for what works best for you and your grow environment.

I have never used a dual spec hps bulb. Some people do streach them and i use to as well, but you will have better results if you keep stretch down and veg. a weak or two more to fill in those spots. the canopy will always try to even its self out so the lower tops will stretch to catch up and compete for the light.

Hear is a pic of of the led of you see anything wrong let me know. Also should I thin them out some I'm going to flip them tomorrow I think. If so how should I go about it?
They look ready to me. No thinning necessary, as they appear bushy. Light spread should allow for an even, bountiful canopy.
