Preflowering/Flowering

If aplant takes 8 weeks to flower. Does this mean after you see the pistols it takes 8 weeks or does this 8 weeks include pre flowering?

High tahoen,I am kind of new to this stuff too.I will relay what I've been told by a senior member. Your plants will not presex or sex until you switch your lighting to a 12-12 regiment.If you want to sex your plants, take clones from each plant, put them under a 12-12 hr light cycle under a 20watt floresence, keep them warm and moist, I try to spray mine 3times a day.Should take 2 weeks for them to show sex. Your plants will not show any sign of sex until you go to a 12-12 light cycle.That is why you need to clone for sex if you want to keep a mother plant. I have had my clones cut for 1 week so far,I took 2 cuttings from each plant incase one clone dies, I have lost 2 so far. I thought too that my plants would show there sex on there own but they won't . Gardening mary jane keeps me sane. Cybro.

not exetly true. your plant can preflower brfore you switch up to the 12/12. If you are a seedling grower who does not clone, or a grower who has no seperate vegetative and flowering grow spaces, the easiest method is simply to wait for the preflowers (primordia), and sexual maturity to appear while the seedling is still in vegetative growth. in answer to your original question,, which was lost in two replies. flowering time starts when you see pistils and finishes when pistils are 75% red 8-11 wks most strains

Flowering starts when you change the light cycle to 12/12.

if there are no pistils then it is not flowering no matter how much light its getting or not getting

furthermore some strains can take as much as 14 days to show pistils therefore those 2wks cannot be considerd "flowering" no matter how much light it is getting or not getting

My plants have been flowering for 3 days, they are 4 weeks old 15 -20 inches tall. I was able to get rid of the males before flowering as they had balls.
I am growing under the new bulb SOLARMAX1 and can't believe how fast and healthy these gals are growing. After 3 days the hairs are flying out.
If you have a 1000watt hps ballast you can run this bulb... it cost almost $200.00 but pays for itself in a grow.

The flowering CYCLE begins when you switch them to 12/12. Just like the germination cycle begins when you put the seed in a wet paper towel. It's not germinated YET, but is on its way.

ive got plants right now that have been on 12/12 since the 13th, and most of them already have white and pink pistles popping out.

What is the relevance of this post?
