its normal … as a plant matures it will show its sex , and your fine to let her veg ….

There is one big difference though. Plants don't talk back. At least not yet!
I have always had better luck growing giving my plants a full 8 hours of "rest". Really seems to help growth.
This actually makes alot of sense to me. Especially because the clone had alternating nodes when I got it.

I don't think they need that much rest. If they want rest they have to grow like mofos and make it to flower. Ive done fine with everything from 18/6- 24/0. I prefer 18/6 or 20/4. Just my $0.02 tho
Back about 5-6 years ago when I first started learning to grow I ran my lights 18/6. I switched because I had noticed during veg that they would have more root activity. Or would grow more than a single node over night. More than that when I ran a cycle of clones from the same plant, half of them 16/8 half of them 18/6. The plants that vegged 16/8 when flowered produced more quality bud than the 18/6. There's nothing wrong with 18/6. It works. Also save a little bit of money running 16/8 but we are talking like 10-12 bucks a month or so. Do you think if I bumped her up to 18 on anything would change?
As long as your plants are getting enough light in those 16 hours you should be fine imo
