Preflowers

Hey guys. I have a plant that has entered the preflower stage and I noticed some growth where the preflowers emerge. I have Jorge Cervantes book indoor outdoor bible, on page 75 there is a picture of a male plant. It is the middle picture. there are those two little flowers growing in the internodes. Anyway, this is what my plant has. What I wanted to know is, do the females look like this too and then develop pistils out of those flowers or is this a male for sure. He states that you should wait to see if the preflowers develop pistils before trying to distinguish sex. I cant be sure if i waited long enough because these preflowers just grew within the last few days or so. I know the obvious solution is to just wait it out to see if pistils form but i wanted to know now if its a male because the suspense is killing me. By the way this is my first grow if you didnt know that already. I have some pics but no scanner until later tonight my computer is down. Oh one more thing about site security. Does everyone here use a proxy to connect or am I being paranoid.

These pictures and quotes were donated from a sexing thread about identifying females by their pre-flowers (primordia) which was authored by "Crazy Composer". The pictures alone speak a thousand words...

Note: The plant parts marked with an "X" are called "stipules", they appear on both male and female plants.

This diagram shows the difference (on a slightly more mature plant) between genuine pre-flowers and actual bud sites, which are - in fact different animals altogether.

From a further distance, but quite clear-cut.
I know how it is for some of the newer growers who are eagerly anticipating their first view of an actual marijuana flower. Well, this is what it looks like, play your cards right and you'll have thousands of these hairs clumped tightly together and covered in crystals that will smell so nice. Don't worry, it's coming.

I noticed on the last picture thats pointing to the little round part of the preflower not the pistil. the small round part is what I have but no pistil. too early right. Oh I just set up a co2 system using baking soda and vinegar until i can buy a generator. Im using a gallon container that has 1/4 inch tubing running through the top controlled by a needle valve, for the co2 release and there is another tube inserted in the side of the container to drip in vinegar onto the baking soda also controlled by a needle valve. I fed the co2 tube into the pot right under the plant. anyone have an opinion on this? when i post my pics I wanted some info on nutrients or lack thereof thanks everyone

Co2 Is heavier than air dude so it wont do shit unless you suspend the hose ABOVE the plants. The baking soda/vinegar method is not very good. Its basically a one hit dose, which if you have ventilation means its gone instantly. You can mix 2 teaspoons of yeast and 2 cups of sugar (thereabouts) in a 2litre coke bottlle top up with water shake it up,(dissolve yeast in a bit of warm water first) drill a 1/4" hole in the lid stick your hose in and tie it above the plants. This will release c02 for a few weeks. You can use a small bottle taped to the side as an airlock/bubble chamber so you can easily see its still producing bubbles. Just put a hose from the Big bottle into the small one with the end submerged in water. Then take a hose off the top of the small chamber for your Co2 supply. They will start to smell like a brewery after a while especially without ventilation. The whole Co2 thing is a little overrated if you ask me. Shure it can help but its a weed that will grow big anyway. Just ensure they have enough freash air supply and they will have enough Co2. Hope that helps a little.
