Preparing for autoflower grow indoor

sure you can get away without checking ph. honestly i didnt do that until recently. my plants were having an issue and i wanted to rule that out. as far as adding nutes, auto are, in general, very sensitive to nute burn. some strains are better than others. the instructions on when and how to use them are on the bottles. i woulnd feed after atleast two weeks from when the seed pops the dirt. i have some plants just starting so ill try to get you som pictures. when you do feed,, i would start out at 1/4 or 1/2 strength, and slowly move up until you find where your plants like it.. Never been to Argentina, heard it was a pretty place. When i was in the military i got to travel all over. been to cambodia, laos, iraq, afghanistan, france, estonia, finland, egypt, bahrain, turkey, syria, china, and korea... not all of those were sight seeing trips though.

Great explanation, wow you have been places dude, i went to italy and brazil so far...

I got the seeds and other stuff, so i will star the grow diary in this same thread...i upload the pics in a moment, of the stuff i got, so you guys can tell me if i doing ok

UPDATE: Got the seeds i told you before, Jack Herer and "Chocolope" strains, auto.

Also got two 10lt pots, a bag of "guano de murcielago" (bat shit...dont know how you guys call this, i guess this is the nute, as they told me in the growshop, i also add a pic of a closeup of the bag so you see the components of this), and "root estimulant" (pic also available)

Growshop had ph meters available in the form of chemical reactive bands, i leave that for later...i will just leave tap water in the sun for a while, to evaporate chloride and then get it to room temperature, and use it.

Also, will begin germinating the seeds inside two glasses of water in darkness, in a moment...

While the seeds germinate, i will have somewhere around 48-32hs to prepare the small pots, so i will upload pictures of those and also of the soil i inted to use...i dont know exactly the composition of the soil, it was sold to me by the growshop, has some white little stones, some roots, and its very darks, seems like a nice soil haha...that will be uploaded soon

IMPORTANT: Here are some pictures of the first lamp i will use, for the seedlings in the small cups, its a little sodium lamp 11 inches long aprox. THIS IS NOT THE FINAL LIGHT, will use a 400w sodium lamp when they get to the final pots. What do you think? What distance should i put this first light for the seedlings?

hmm never used a light like that one... i would say 8 inches from the top of the seedling... just a guess though, you may be able to bring it in closer. i grew a chocolope once, that stuff stuuuuunk... but it was some real fine smoke.

Yes its a very subtle light, but im thinking on getting two CFLs for the starter cup stage...that will be better i think

Another question, i have seen people that germinate the seeds in glass of tap water in darkness for 24-48hs and then put the seedlings in damp paper towels and ziplock bag untile the root gets longer (12hs more?) What do you think about this? Or should i go from the glass to the soil of the small cup even if the root is just coming out?

well i dont use a cup of water. i go straight into a wet paper towel in a zip. usually two days and i have some real nice sprouts

Yeah, wanted to try something different because the previous auto that i tried i germinated in glass of water...48hs and the root was very tiny, and when planted (besides the overwatering) i think it soaked too much in the glass, so now after 24hs the seeds were starting cracking and i put them in the paper towels, i will check out tomorrow 21hs and friday, i guess they will be ready friday afternoon.

should be... I put a tad to much nute on one of my plants today, dummy me double fed it.... so i flushed it out real good, so hopefully i didnt hurt it too bad.

Ok, new update, its March 11, 20hs and the seeds have germinated well, the chocolope has a long ass root (kinda a worried me) and the jack herer has a more shorter root. Both have been planted in the starter cups with soil and watered very little, they are under the light i showed before temporarily and will be under two cfls (one cold light and other daylight to cover the spectrum) for a while until they are transplanted to the final pots and put under the 400w sodium light. Im confident that i watered right this time, this soil is very dark, wasnt very thirsty, so i watered very little. Now i will wait for the sprouts. Here are some pics:

If ur buying so many cfl bulbs why not invest in a hps light dude? The babies will love that and so wud you :bigjoint:

Hello tipper01, thanks for writing here, i have a 400w HPS light on the way right now, at the moment i already have installed the two cfls (plus that other lamp, that is more a support for the lamps than anything else), they will be just for the starter cup stage, as i been told that the HPS is way too strong for the tiny sprouts (hope to see them soon). When the seedlings evolve i will put them in their final pots and under the 400w HPS light.
Please follow this thread, all the help is welcome, have a great weekend!
Gastón

hey buddy im runnin on 600hps i was worried initially but i raised my light to 4ft it seams fine and there thriving , im looking forward to gettin my new beans next week yahoooo

Tiny sprouts coming out, chocolope is growing faster than jack herer, both still encased in seed. Since planting the seedlings it has been almost 32 hours. Watering very little, to me dirt seems dry in the top, but when watering veeeery little (in drops) though it takes the water, the soil tends to get muddy very quickly and with very little water. A little worried about drain capacity of the soil, but all i can do is wait and keep watering in few amounts, opinions?
