Prepping for my first run of bubble hash!

I have a 27 gallon tote full of high quality trim material to process. I will be agitating in a 32 gallon trash can 1/3 fillled with ice and water inside of a tied off 220 micron bag. I will agitate with a boat paddle I got on Amazon. I will then open the drain valve I installed on the bottom of the trash can which has a 1/2" hose attached. That hose will run to my 5 gallon bucket lined with 4 bubble bags. The bucket has many large drain holes in the bottom. The bags will collect the trichomes from the agitated water and the waste water will go down the sewer drain that the bucket will be sitting on.

I will then do 2-3 more wash cycles on the same batch of material to maximize yield. I plan to buy a commercial ice maker for my basement just to process bubble hash every harvest. Why not? Never have been a fan of solvent extractions. Never will be.

Hoping for 1/4 yield. Not bad for trash recycling.

Got a nice hash press machine on Amazon for $15. Hash coins rock :)

I tried dry ice once, it was not as enjoyable, my last run was my 2019 outdoor fresh frozen, that was interesting. I’m in Canada so winter is bubble season.

Do you have a place to get dry ice in your area ?
Any place that sells welding gas, co2 should sell dry ice, if anyones wondering.. and buy lots extra if you plan on not doing it right away, 5lbs will be gone in 24. I learnt the hard way, and don’t store in a freezer. Haha..

Love the canoe paddles... really I love that kind of ingenuity, and thinking about that, I once saw a old-timer in the early 70(s) up in Northern Alaska use a sawed in half cc18-180 propeller to mix up his 55 gallon drum of bubble hash, that was so crazy!

I'm about to have a lot of trim to run as well. I prefer bubble hash also. Is the work bag your using just a 5 gallon bag as well? If so how much material do you put in the bag at a time?

Anyone have links to a video where they are working on larger batches, I can't seem to figure out how to wash it all at once and achieve good agitation since the bag is closed in your scenario I think. Does that not keep the material all pressed together and not achieve good agitation?

There is no need to work the material inside of the bags. That is to filter the glands from the water after the material has been worked. I will fill a 32 gallon trash can 1/3 with ice. 1/3 with water. I will fill the 220 bag with material that has been frozen overnight. Tie the bag off so the bulk of the material will stay inside the 220 work bag. Place the bag with material inside the frozen water. Agitate with boat paddle. Do not over work the material. Too much plant matter will end up in your extraction.

I installed a drain valve at the bottom of my trash can and attached a 1/2" drain hose. I will place my bucket with drain holes in the bottom over my sewer drain. Line the bucket with desired micron bubble bags. I will be using 4 bags inside the bucket.
Place the drain hose from the trash can into the 5 gallon bucket. Slowly drain the water through the bags. Waste water runs into the sewer drain.

Repeat 1-2 more times as needed for additional yield. I will have to run 5-6 batches to finish all my material. If you got a larger 220 micron work bag you could process more material in each batch. The size of the 220 work bag is your limiting factor.

This is the same process as an automatic bubble machine agitator that then dumps the water out of an output hose for filtration through the bags.

Your process seems sleek and efficient, which is good because that's a lot of trim. I like the idea of agitating outside the work bag, in the big trash can. That sounds so much easier than working in a small bucket. I will totally copy that!

I hope everything goes smoothly.

Place your trash can on an elevated surface like a sturdy table chair to make the gravity feed smooth as silk. Another way you can do it is for a few bucks more than a trash can ($35) you can get a utility sink to work the material in. Place your bucket under the drain hole over a drain. No hose, no valve, no trash can. Here's a pic to give you a visual. Just plumbed that sink this morning :)

Place it right over your floor drain and you're jamming. Almost seems easier than the way I'm doing it :)

That's awesome.

The first time I used bubble bags I had the work bag and collection bags all in the same bucket, with no drain. I had to take the whole setup apart and put it back together over and over, it was stupid.

Saw these setups in Columbia where they used washing machines.
If you had a large enough garden producing a large amount of trim every 11 or 12 weeks a wash machine is really the only way to go. You simply would not have the time to do it in any less efficient manner. Those small table top bubble bag machines are just a cheap portable washer modified slightly with some logos added. And when I say cheap I mean cheap. Trash cans don't leak and I've yet to see a broken boat paddle :)

I have kayak paddles, a 5 gallon bucket, a trash can and a set of 5 gallon bags already.

I only need to buy a valve, hose and ice. Thanks man I appreciate it I was wondering how to efficiently process all this trim. I don't care for chemical extractions either.

Have you ever pressed your bubble hash for rosin? I have never had rosin and was wondering if it was better than solvent extractions which I for some reason don't like even if it's a clean extraction.

I've never made rosin, but I watched a friend make it with his heated rosin press. Interesting process. He was pressing buds in a heated press and the oil oozed out the sides. Wiped it up with wax paper. Looked like shatter BHO. Not something I would want to invest in or do, but some people really dig it. I like to press the hash into coins. Easy to store and transport. Full melt hash coins rock :)

I don't believe pressing bubble hash is recommended though. I have only ever made the coins with dry ice hash.

Edit: Looked it up. The recommendation just says to ensure the bubble hash has thoroughly dried before pressing. Seems like sound advice to me. Moldy hash would be no good. There does seem to be a consensus that you should not press full melt hash. Only a light-medium hand press.
