Leaving the woman with no power for 30 mins was just asking for trouble in my opinion .. You fucked up by allowing this to happen and she took the wrath lol .. Kiss her ass and dont forget to check/adjust your timers as well .. We dont want her blamed for herms either !

Or wait til she takes a bath and throw the hair dryer in there with her. Problem solved. Don't forget to reset the breaker. You're welcome.

Not gonna try and play counselor like everyone else, but I'd highly recommend looking at your breaker box asap. What you need to know is how many amps each individual plug has. I currently have 2 15 amp power strips which I will plug a 1000 watt ballast and inline fan into each one. That one plug is a 30 amp plug so the 22 amps I'm using will be perfectly safe so as not to stress it out. For a 15 amp breaker, I'd try to go no further than 12 amps on it max. Most homes only have a single 15 amps per breaker, maybe 20 if you're lucky. Not sure what a 600watt ballast amps are, but it should say right on the thing. Next to the 120V there should be a number that looks something like xxxA which will be your amps. My 1000 watt is 9.2 amps so I'm guessing your 600 watt ballast is around 5-6 or so? But if you're using an AC or something else on the same outlet your ballast is plugged into that bumps the amp usage from your ballasts 5-6 to the max, then your breaker trips to prevent any severe problems.

To make it short, see what breakers go to what outlets and then you'll have an idea of just how much you can plug into that one outlet. Make sure to only plug in like 1-2 things that are 1-1.5 amps (like inline fans) with your ballast because you don't want to stress the breaker out so try to aim for using 12 amps instead of 15 or 15-16 instead of 20 kind of thing. So hopefully the room your grow is in has two outlets that are 15 amps each or more, that should be plenty of power. Was she using the hair drier in the same room the grow is instead of the bathroom or is the bathroom power and your rooms power sharing the same circuit?

To calculate amps all you do is divide the wattage by the voltage. So 600w / 120v = 5 amps

*even though the lamp is a 600w lamp it will draw more than 600 watts so the amp draw will be SLIGHTLY higher than the calculation.

Thanks for that, I'm still learning about electricity so that's good to know!

Call it what you want to call it. I'm glad to understand your comment was just comedy, 'cause otherwise I would have felt bad for your husband of 30. Not trying to jack the thread and it is always nice to have feminine perspective so thanks.

When you have the extra money you should get a surge protector power strip. You know, has the power button on the strip that stuff plugs into? You could of turned the power strip off then reset the breaker immediately. Or for in the future before she blow dry her hair just flip the off button, when she done or 20min.s later if that what you comfortable with flip it back on. IDK just my .02. haha. It's what I have, it does make it easy.

I had three power outages in one day two of them came right back on and one of them was delayed.
This all happened when I was at work, I found out from the first two for my neighbor.
My 1000 W HPS and magnetic ballast was not affected at all. I believe the above posts that they won't turn themselves on until they've cooled off.
I think you should be fine.
Sometimes I reply without reading the whole post this was intended for the original poster.

bulb doesn't need to cool down for more than 15 minutes. If it does any damage, it won't be much. you should replace the bulb every other grow anyways. Some people say every grow, but run two lamps and just compare them to each other, usually rotating bulb swaps each grow.
