Preventing landrace sativa from becoming rootbound?

Hello everyone,

I just ordered some Malawi, Panama, Congo and Zamaldelica from ACE seeds and I'm wondering what my lighting regiment should be to prevent these long-flowering strains from becoming root-bound in a 5 gallon pot?

Should I flower them as soon as they are transplanted in to their final home?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply wyteberry, I'll be vegin inside and flowering outside as I live in the tropics and it's pretty much always 12/12. So unlimited space vertically, but should I still only veg for a few week and if so, should I start the seed in a 5 gallon pot?

I have solo cups/.75 gallon pots/ 5 gallon pots...

Well that changes things as I thought this was indoor due to limiting yourself to 5 gallons.

Why not dig a hole or get bigger pots as you will have some monsters due to the genetics so why limit the growth and potential?

Either way if you plan on finishing them in 5 gallons then yes I would flower after a month max.

ohhh this changes everything..... veg a month or a little longer then put her outside either in the ground or no less then a 30 gallon smart pot and be patient. i would go bigger then 30 gallon myself. lots of trainning and topping to. also super crop to make her thin sativa limbs strong. not just the main stem. but all over

Appreciate all the help guys! I've contemplated quite a bit about transplanting straight to the ground, only issue is that the soil where I live sucks. It's loaded with clay and completely red, but if I were to put them in the ground should I amend the soil or just buy fresh soil and replace the original. This will be a guerilla grow by the way and I'd love to let these girls grow to their full potential...

dig a big hole and refill with rich loose soil with a fat cut of perlite
