Pro Grow 400

Hey all, I was thinking of investing in LEDs and was wondering if anybody has heard anything about
Pro Grow LED® (PG400) from hydroponics hut. I have a cabinet that is 4'long x 2'wide x 5' tall, I have a exhaust fan with carbon filter attached, ducting running into the cabinet drawing air out ( 6" in diameter).

I was wondering if such lights would be appropriate for this size of cabinet, with a grow area of 4'long 2' wide, would it be too powerful? Is my cabinet height going to be an issue? I know it's a odd area, but it's what I have to work with. Any advice would be awesome!

Im running that exact light in my closet which is 4 feet long by 2 feet wide. I keep mine around a foot and a half away from the canopy. Only been vegging with it for a month and half but so far they look great. Hope that helps Oh yea and since using this light I haven't noticed any jump in my bill but thats only on the veg setting

Hmm interesting, well that gives me hope it would be a not bad purchase, my only concern is that with only working with 5', I may get too close to the canopy during flowering.

Sorry for the late reply but I wouldnt worry about it too much cause my vegging plants where growing right into the light with no noticeable negative affects, I think you should be fine.

Don't know about the recommended distance for the PG400 but I use the PG180 and I can typically get within 8-10" without any issues on most strains. They both have the 3w chips, the PG400 just has more of them, so perhaps plan on not getting closer than 12-15". So that leaves 4' for container and plant. You can train most plants to not exceed that if you don't veg for several months. At least that has been my experience!

But tbh, I would use two panels for that tent, unless you are just growing 2-3 narrowish plants. LED panels, most of them, have two weaknesses: penetration and spread. The makers try to play around with lens angles to compensate, and they do pretty good, but I just don't think the coverage is there, not in the fact that most panels are laid out in a small case.

Just my opinion.

Hey, im by noo means a "masta" of leds, but I have ran a few panels.. Including 3 different models from HH, though they were a nice starting point to learn the tech... That's all they will ever be..

In this day and age of the LED Market companies are shooting to be the most efficient and powerful, at the same time. Idk what the exact specs of a 2013 Pro Grow... they're simply just not in the runnings...

Apache Tech (if you can..)
Calinfornia Lightworks (SS200's have the feedback program right now??)
Area 51 (obviously, just look around, RIU is ridden with good results)
Hans Panels (I cant speak to these, though others enjoy them)

if you are stuck on HH, go with two, or three PG180's..

More points of light=more penetration/coverage=more rank a dank

the PG180 and PG260/250 draw the same so don't fuck with em and just get the 180, more efficient, costs less.

I run in a slightly smaller space and had x2 PG180's/260's, close to 300w's.. You are on the right track with the amount of light, but now think about your source... Two smaller panels that you can angle and arc exactly where you need them on your bud sites is going to be able to work in a 2x4 than a single, overhead panel..

my top two would be A51 or CLW (a couple SS200's, on the cheap)

totally agree, also what I found out with my new fixture

the space they cover is fare from what HID lights can cover, with my 600W HPS I could easily cover a 4x4 foot space, with my 288W of led I can barley cover 2x2

tho light intensity from 120x3W LEDs is about the same as with my HPS, penetration as well, but that might come down to lenses as well

a few pics

the HPS with out a cool hood provide about 7-8K foot candles a ft away, the LEDs do the same (7K) but both provide about 5-6K foot candles at the top of the plants 15-20" inch`s away and even 2 ft away the LED still provide about 3-4K but with the HPS I could get +5K foot candles every where in a 4x4 ft area, with the LEDs I have to be right under, a few inch`s out to the side and it faint fast, where I just had +5K I just get 2-3K and a few inch`s father out and it drop to almost nothing, need to use a grow method where you keep all your Bud sites right under it for optimal result (IMO a scrog is N0.1)
