Pro-mix with water-insoluble fertilizers?

So I got a bale of promix mp organik, green Gaia 4-4-4 and the flower bloom fertilizer after talking to people at my local nursery. I told them my plan, I want to mix the fertilizer into the promix. The fertilizer is a mix of organics like bag guano and alphap meal etc. Eventually Id like to create my own fertilizer mix but this option was quick and convenient. So I think the norm is to use water soluble nutrients and water feed when using promix, but does anyone have experience with using organic nutrients (green Gaia 4-4-4 etc) directly mixed into promix? I am setting up an autopot system. The nursery people suggested this, but they also said the promix already had fertilizer in it and can't be used for hydro, so they may be misinformed about the product.

autopots look like an automated sips sysytem. peat won't work for shit in those, it'll stay wet all the time, and start rotting. especially if you load it with a bunch of nutes to feed the bacteria.

from a pro-mix video about mp organik
https://pthorticulture.com ▻ For more horticulture questions and answers. PRO-MIX MP Mycorrhizae Organik does have a fertilizer charge which contains Sustane 4-6-4, humates, and also seaweed granules. The fertilizer chage will last from 2 to 4 weeks, 2 weeks in the summer months and 4 weeks in the winter months. But we do recommend starting fertilization before that fertilizer charge runs out so that there is time for the natural microorganisms to break the fertilizer down so it can be used by plants.

i think the nursery people know what they're talking about, at least in this case

Some ProMix has ferts in it like their Veg and Herb blend. I was mixing it half and half with the ProMix HP that has no nutes and had all sorts of problems like guys get using Miracle-Gro soils. Just using the HP by itself now with hydro nutes and it's a lot better.

The myco added to promix is only good for 6 months so you might want to get some of their myco stuff to blend in with your soil to make sure you have a healthy micro-herd to break down organic nutes to make them available to the plants. If you can mix it up all damp and let it cook for a month or so it should work fine but might be pretty hot so be careful with seedlings or small plants.

Might work fine without cooking too. I'm not big on organics.

I was misinformed! But now I'm a little more confused. Apparently people use promix HP with their auto pot systems and some people use coir. I went with promix organik because it listed coir and peat, so I thought I was taking the middle way, plus everything I have so far is Omri. I do have airdomes, which should introduce air to the root system and fight off root rot right? I have a huge bag of perlite which I was going to mix as well.

Yeah I almost got the herb and veg stuff because it was quite a bit cheaper but i was tempted by the Omri label on the organik. I didn't even consider having to add more myco, good to know thanks! My original plan going in was to do promix HP with jacks equivalent but I thought the organic route might be more forgiving for a newbie. Maybe I'll go back and pick up the water soluble stuff and just throw that in my res tank.

HP is OMRI too tho I don't much care as I'm using AN nutes with it. If there is little perlite you'll want to add about 20% coarse perlite to it for better drainage. HP has tons of perlite right out of the bale.

Are you using some auto-watering system with it? Should work OK as peat and coir have similar properties.

What's airdomes?

Yes I'm using autopot. Meant to be self watering system with a valve kind of similar to ebb and flow I think. Air domes are placed at the bottom of the pots to introduce air to the roots. This will be my first grow so excuse my indeciveness, I tried to go into the nursery with a plan but there were so many options and I got distracted lol. I'll try 20% perlite thanks! I was planning on added perlite but had no clue how much to start. I got a 200l bag for 30$ so I probably would have went overboard with it if not for your comment lol

It's like being a kid in a candy store when I go to a big hydro or garden shop. :)

I hand water everything non-hydro and just let them dry out good between waterings. Never had a root problem in promix like that. Big plastic pots that I drill a bunch of extra holes in the bottoms of. Working good for me for years so I'll just keep doing it like I am. Want to have many different strains going in a perpetual grow and now that I commandeered the spare bedroom for a veg room I can just toss plants into the flowering room as they get big enough and I've taken some finished ones out. Crowded in there atm.
