Hey @ArcticGrow welcome to RIU.

I would definitely go with the 600 watt hps. You won't be disappointed. I'm not familiar with that particular led, but 250 watts of even the best LEDs won't be able to compete with a 600 watt hps.

2-4 plants in a 4x4 sounds perfect.

HPS all the way.
2-4 plants under a scrog in that tent will fill your net up super fast. 4 would be fastest if you spaced them out nice and evenly + topped and trained your girls nicely before tossing em under the net.

If it's a choice between 600 of hps and 250 of led I'd go with the 600, hands down. A lot grow in the same size space with that size light and get excellent results. I don't think 250w of led would be enough for that space

a 1000 hps would be even better in a 4x4 provided you can cool it. would be 62 watts/sq ft vs 37 watts/sq ft with the 600.

like others said, you'd need 3 of the 250 w leds to compete with hps

Thank you for taking the time to answer guys!

Just straight HPS is good for both the vegging and flowering fase? No need to buy a MH for veg?

This kit should get me off to a good start I hope (about $380 w/taxes) :

White Widow (fem) is supposed to be a nice strain for a newbie to put in a 4plant 4'x4' tent Scrog, or a Super Silver Haze (fem) :eyesmoke:

Will be starting op with topping/mainlining and Scrog, don't know if I have the balls to start off with supercropping

if it were me, i would get a ballast that would allow you to run a 400MH for veg and then a 600hps for flower. hps will work for the whole grow but mh is better for veg.

and not to dissuade you but for your first grow, why not just let them grow normally (no topping, scrogging etc)? that would eliminate one variable if and when you have any problems.
