Problem with DNA Genetics seeds

I recently purchased 13 non-feminized Chocolope seeds (the feminized were out of stock) from Attitude, then last week purchased 12 feminized Chocolope seeds, also from Attitude. Out of the total of 25 seeds only 6 germinated!! WTF!!!! I always use the "pre soak" method that I have been using for the past few years with great sucess. The specific problem with these seeds is that they are not "splitting" when soaked, so the root never comes out. I paid a pretty penny for these seeds and for them to have only a 24% germination rate is bullsh*t!!!!! Is anyone else having this problem?

BTW, before you ask I use RO Water and a gemination heat pad that keeps the temps at 75-80 degrees.

I get 100% germ rate with paper towel method, but I don't know what the problem is with your beans. Maybe send Attitude and email, worth a shot?

Man I had the same problem and it happend twice. I have grown other strains from them and this particular problem has not happend .

so you presoaked and then paper toweled? i usually pre soak 24 hours then paper towel till a tap root of about a half of a inch comes out then i plant it

i dont even let them crack in the presoak to clerify i dont look for them tocrack in the presoak i look for them to drop to the bottom indicating moister broke through the seed wall and it filled with water and leave it to crack in the moist towel

It's been 36 hours and only 2 have "split" the rest are locked tighter than FT Knox!!!!! lol

I had a pick and mix of 3 none popped after 7 days . Couple grows later I decided I would try this strain again out a pack of 12 regular only 3 popped so out of 15 only three popped. I never called attitude just moved on but if your having the same problem it might be worth it for you . This happend over 1 year ago for me.

Were all the seeds from the same breeder?

sorry to hear you're having bad luck.
i bought 1 DNA Chocolope regular seed from the single seed centre and couple months ago. i used the paper towel method and it cracked and had a root tip in less that 12 hours. the plant is very healthy and it started showing female pre flowers after 5 days in 12/12. im pretty happy with DNA right now.

in my whole growing "career" ive had less than 10 seeds that havent germed. use paper towel and keep them wet...not kinda wet, i keep mine almost dripping wet and have great success.

Ok , is there a difference between soaking them in a glass of water, ie http://www.weedsthatplease.com/germinating.htm , or placing them between two moist paper towels? I assume either method is trying to get the seed to "split" by allowing it to soak up water so does it matter if it's soaking in water or between 2 wet paper towels? Or am I wrong?

ive soaked them first quite a few times, i really dont see a difference. but if you're having problems i'd say soak them first cuz although i havent noticed a difference, i think there may be something to it.

wet paper towels. let the excess water drip off until it stops dripping. wrap the seeds in the paper towel then put it in a plastic bag and seal it. i keep it on top of my computer tower, near the fan, so its always warm.

i had a pack of feminized LA Confidential. three didn't pop, and the other three were true hermaphrodites. I dont think ill ever go back to DNA Genetics.

The best method is to plant directly to chosen medium and keep moist. It will give the best germ rate possible. I have mixed feelings with DNA. You cant go wrong with the Sour Cream though.

imo soaking seeds is a waste of time. i use the paper towel method in a zip lock bag. you dont need ro water and a heat pad. here is my method that has given me 99.9% germ rate. get a moist paper towel, just damp, not dripping wet. put in a zip lock bag. put in as many seeds as you like but keep them apart from each other so roots dont tangle. put in a dark room. i usually use an old board game in the closet. check in 2 days and they should have sprouted. you can either plant now or some ppl like to let the root develope a bit more. personally i put cups of soil as soon as i see the root come out. otherwise mold and shit builds up in the bag. room temp is fine. i never used a heating pad. water is also not really that important. i use RO water for my actual plants, but for germination i just use city tap or hard well water depending where im at. the chlorine in city water should not have any negative effects for germination. RO is fine and maybe better in scientific terms, but there is virtually no difference as far as germinating, at least from my experience.

germinating is actually extremely easy. try my method and i guarantee you should get that 99.9% success rate as long as the seeds are good to begin with. hope this helped and any questions feel free.

Thanks for the advise. I'll try this method next time. However, the seeds that I have soaking are not "spliting" at all. It's not like they are splitting and then the root is rotting out. I really don't see how laying them in wet paper towels will allow them to absorb water and "split" any better than soaking in a cup of water. Then again, I'm "newer" at this so I'll take all the advise I can get and put it to use. Thanks again
