problem with mold?

hey all,

i just chopped my first couple plants, i'm pretty pleased with the results! i have a question about mold, though. i'm pretty sure i'm just being paranoid, but when i was tying them up to dry, on one of the main colas near where the nuggets meet the stem i thought i saw a little white spiderweb looking sort of thing. i honestly couldn't really tell if it was just a bunch of crystals or not, and when i poked it with my finger it seemed to look normal. now, hopefully my eyes were just playing tricks on me because i can find any other signs of mold or any other bad stuff, but i am wondering if it is mold if it will spread to the other buds drying? if i have to throw away a little bud after i chop them up i can live, but if i walk in there one day to a bunch of moldy weed i'll go insane.

if u have a cobb web then u prolly have spider mites.. u really need to post pics as well. are there tiny white spots on ur leaves? looks like paint sprayed on leaves.

If its that little like you say then just pick it off

So it could be an old spidermite web

But just pick it off and you should be fine my man

yeah, i did have mites actually, although i thought they were all gone now. i would take a picture but i can't even find the spot anymore. i would imagine a room has to be pretty damn humid for mold to grow on living plants.

Not true.

Mould can grow in relatively low humidity if plant spacing is compact. As you can get micro-climates created between leaf surfaces causing breeding grounds for mould.

Mould can look like spiders webs when you look into the effected area.


Good air circulation around and under all plants can stop this from happening.



Hopefully you haven't got bud rot but be aware that it can grow in pretty much any humidity.


I have experienced bud rot with an ambient RH of 45% due to poor air circulation.

The circulation in there is really good but the cola in question is pretty big and dense. Is there anything I can really do at this point if that's the case? I can't seem to find any more of the stuff on the plant.

OK, well, here's an update: there was some white mold. I think I got lucky and harvested just at the right time to nip it in the bud, as it were. When I was breaking up the dried main colas of two plants I found a few spots near the middle of the stem where a few buds had a little bit of mold. I took them aside and didn't put them with the rest of the stuff drying, just a couple grams worth. I separated all the buds and peeked in between checking for mold and didn't see any more, but I'm paranoid now though that the rest of my stuff is somehow tainted and will end up going bad in a few weeks or something. It smells amazing, no mold smell at all, and even the stuff I threw away wasn't bad at all aside from a few little white/gray spots. It looks great too. I notice sometimes that the stuff I picked off a week or two before, after I grind it the trichomes seem to be sort of... big and now I'm worrying that's mold? I think I'm just being paranoid that mold ruined everything, but is there a way to check with a microscope to make sure? It looked normal under the scope to me, I'm thinking I'm just not used to bud that hasn't had a ton of trichs knocked off by handling by a bunch of people before getting to me. I managed to get about 70 grams from two plants in a cardboard box under 275W of CFL so I'm really happy about that. Got two more girls ready in a month and I've been topping them so the new ones shouldn't have big colas to go bad at least.

Cool, I think I got all of it then. I think I am just looking for something to be wrong since I can't believe I got all this awesome weed without buying it from someone.

fuck those shady dealers saying they got mids or highs for such and such price and it turns out to be shit and the weight is off lol

bud rot can happen real fast, in a day. a dehumidifier works but they throw off some heat. good job man.when your stuff is dry put in a jar and stick it in the freezer this will keep the mold from progressing.

I agree put those shady dealers out of business seems like I cant buy a bag without feeling ripped off. Its hardly ever any good and always short on weight.
