wow your experiment sounds like mine. from what i have gathered and what i plan on doing is rinsing out the plant for 4 days with just straight water. no nutes. then feeding the vegging plant the bloom nutes even though its in veg cycle. then taking clone next day. kinda like get the mother plant ready. just take 1 clone from each plant . try that and try not to look at them or mist them. hope this helps as to your question ..

Lots of really good info here. Thanks guys, you gave me a few ideas to run with. I think the reason why I'm having so many problems cloning is because I didn't wait long enough for the plant to mature. Like I mentioned, I've seen pre flowers recently and the last 2 clones (fan leaves) seem to be working a lot better. Also I was wondering if anybody knows: can you use rooting gel that is for semi hard wood? The rooting gel that I have is Wilson's Root, for semi hard wood, it's the only stuff I could find at Rona and local gardening shops. I also have a rooting powder, however that is also for semi hard wood.

wait.. are you rooting bang leaves? if you can get it to grow roots , which you could..., you could grow a huge bang leaf.. i just dont know if it has n stem or "shot" if it will get any taller , but you could prolly keep it alive for quite some time. and the leaf could possibly grow rather large! i am thinking palm fron size.

I tried to clone a few of the fan leaves, which died, not sure what a bang leaf is. From what I understand, the leaves will not root because of 2 reasons: first the plants are in veg state and i'm giving them high concentrations of fertilizer which has lots of nitrogen. Second, the plants weren't mature enough for the clones to work anyway. I read a few articles on cloning fan leaves. The article says that cloning fan leaves will make healthier and stronger plants. Currently i'm not cloning, have to wait a little longer to take any clones. Both plants have female preflowers, which means they are mature, however, my small plant is so short and bushy, I don't have any good branches to clone other then the fan leaves. So i'm going slow down on the fertilizer, let them grow a bit longer, then see how cloning works, if no go, then i'll try to flower the plants, then try again.

First off, you can clone leafs but they will not turn into plants, you clone stems, not leafs to get plants. Now could be your just not using the right "word"?
second when I first started I had trouble like your havin, tried all kinds of things, plus fighting temps
I went looking in regular garden places and found this tute that basically fills in the holes that are missing in MJ forums it is much more detailed

I'm not using the wrong word, I have been trying to clone the big fan leaves, like I said I've read articles on how to do it and from what I've read, they say that cloning a fan leaf will result in a healthier stronger plant. I don't know if it will work, people have done it and it has worked. To me (and most ppl) it makes for sense to clone a branch. Don't want to beat this subject to death, but all of my MJ clones that looked like there were going to live, died. For the last 2 weeks, I used 1/4 strength veg fertilizer, to lower the nitrogen. I set up a seedling tray with a shallow layer of vermiculite, a net try on top of it, so the rockwool cubes are not in direct contact with the vermiculite, 6" humidity dome and a heating pad underneath set to low. Added some water to the vermiculite, the humidity is 90% and temp is 75F My clones are in moist rockwool cubes. The clones looked like they were doing good for 4 days, then shazam, the branches in the rockwool cubes decayed and turned to mush. I tried Wilson Roots, rooting gel on a few, and rooting power on a few others, none of them lived. Any thoughts????

If anybody wanted to know I got my clones to root. The thing I was doing wrong was using branches (not matured enough) that were not woody enough. This seems to be the key to clone this strain correctly. I also mixed my fertilizer a little bit stronger, then took another clipping and it rooted good. So in short, the problem wasn't the cloning gel or powder, the branches were soft and not woody. I'm sure not having a heating pad underneth them didn't help either. I would suggest when you take a cutting is to, cut off a half an inch from the bottom of the cutting and start chewing. If the cutting has lots of fiber (lots of chewing), it should be good to clone. Also the reason why I had mold was for the very same reason, the branches weren't tough enough to root and turned to mush in the soil. Hope this helps anyone who has problem cloning or mold on their clones, cheers
