Problems with rockwool in seedling stage....=[ help!

I just started using rockwool and I planted 2 seeds after they germinated. Everything was going fine up until about 2 days ago (seedlings had been growing in the rockwool for 4 days at this point), when the green color began to disappear from the 2 leaves =[ Has anyone ever seen this before? One possibility is that I just painted the interior of the grow cabinet with latex paint and it still smells a little bit like the paint all though not too bad...Could this have caused the problem...Also, I smoke cigarettes and I'm wondering if this is possibly what accidental nicotine 'touch-contamination' looks like? Any ideas PLEASE let me know =] Thanks!

Smoking cigarettes has nothing to do with it.
Did you prepare the rockwool by soaking it in pH5.0 water overnight before using to stabilize the pH of the rockwool?
If not, well, start over.
