Producing Feminised Seeds Using Colloidal Silver

Yeah the pollen is surprisingly lightweight and fine! Very similiar to talcum powder. Accidentally exhaling in the general direction of the pollen when taking the picture (even while trying not to breathe on it), I could see some pollen particles kicking up into the air under the light. Doesn't take much of anything to kick it up and move it around! And once those flower bracts open, the gentlest bump will cause a lot of pollen to dump out.

Whoo hoo!!!! It looks like I was premature in calling it. What I thought was a bundle of calyxes and some pistils turns out to be pollen sacs and whatever those spikes are that males have. At least, I think so. So glad if I don't have to start over :)

Here's a couple shots of buds:

Ok..I thought the flowering structure would be called a bud, male or female. Just an assumption on my part though.

So you concur Medical Grade? It's a boy?

ive just found this thread will read it all later but what is the general idea does this work or not? the only other way of getting some good seeds would be to keep a couple of buds in flower too long as usually when u go tooo long they throw out a few banannas which you could leave to open and produce a few seeds but i like the idea of a controlled seeding concidering im going to start a perpetual harvest setup very soon!

phear, yes it does appear to work. G.O.D. has done the whole process and has seeds. He just hasn't grown any of those yet, says he won't be able to for a couple months.

My understanding is that obtaining seeds the way you describe is the result of a plant going "hermie", and therefore the resulting seeds carry that trait as well. The process that this thread describes is different; it is not the result of hermies.

Yea it works like a charm. I will update my CS grow later on tonight but look at my plant. I applied CS to a Lowlife Auto fem seed and I have shitloads of pollen now. I took some of that pollen and pollinated a budding plant I have and it seem to take and it looks like small seeds are now forming on that plant. as far as my auto it also has started producing seeds and I will try to see if my shitty camera can take some decent shots. Like tet1953 mentioned I didnt think it was working but all of a sudden they just popped out. Next time I will just spray one or two branches, this auto plant i sprayed the whole thing.

Look at my CS grow in my sig.

The earliest that I can start the seeds is the middle of June ... kinda gotta backlog of strains that need growing before I get back to the Red Dragon.

Surely if u let a female plant pollenate itself then it would be a hermie...female pollen on a seperate female (not of the exact genetic make - up as the colloidal silver treated plant) would make non-hermie female seeds as i understand it....maybe i'm wrong...just thinking out loud!!!!

Read the thread, bud. This has been discussed. It is really an interesting read anyway.

BTW, I am happy to report that I have harvest a small amount of pollen now, and applied to a couple buds. Most sacs need to dry out some more, hope to continue pollenating soon.

This process really works, bud. It is one of the methods used by breeders, as I understand it.

Hey all, just wanted to throw in my two cents. I actually built a battery operated version, and if it's been discussed, then oh well. Anyway, I wired three 9V batteries in series, ran it through the silver coins, and it was good to go in a few hours. I actually may have left in there to long as the water was VERY yellow and I swear there was some silver pooled up on the surface...

I'll be hitting my clones in about a week with it so we'll see how it goes.

G.O.D., last we talked you were questioning your method of giving the male a head start on flowering because you thought you didn't need to, what did you decide? Would you suggest putting everyone to flower at the same time?

Thanks!

Being at t he pollenating stage myself, I can say that it definitely is a better idea to start the male first. The pollen will keep a while for sure, and it is better to have it ready to go.

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing, I'd rather just turn the male over and dust the female, but I also noticed that males are ready to go by week 3 but I'm worried that the females may be a little immature. I was going to separate them by about a week just in case. I also wasn't sure how long the hermie process takes, if the plant slows down, THEN after like a week or so starts to produce flowers, which would put it behind the female too much. Any input would be appreciated.

LOL I do not think that it is accurate to call it a hermie process. Some might argue, and have in fact. Regarding how long it takes the male to develop, it isn't long at all actually. I had buds forming a week after placing in 12/12. At first it looked like it didn't work to me, it appeared to have pistils and what I thought was a bundle of calyxes. A mere 36 hours later, and it was clearly a male plant. 15-20 buds, lots of sacs.

I messed up a little. Once it started opening sacs I got nervous even though it is in a separate room. I do not have the rig that G.O.D. set up. So, with some open sacs showing I chopped and put in an open baggie. I am hoping the sacs continue to open in the bag, and/or once it dries I can just crumble some pollen out. Live and learn. I'll do it a little differently next time.

Hey Maximus

I start them at the same time, or maybe the male gets a few days head start and I start pollinating the females as soon as possible.
The seeds need around 5 weeks to grow and mature so you have to get dusting the girls early.

I started reading this thread about a month ago and decided to try it. I had a couple extra OG clones so they made good subjects.
After getting wrapped up in all of the technical bullshit people argue about, I decided to just try it real quick. I found a 9v charger, some silver bezel material I had and went to RS for the clips.
Got 16 oz distilled water, plugged everything up and waited 24 hours. There was a film of silver on top and a bunch of grey shit hanging off the silver so I filtered it and started spraying it on 13 March.
I started on the first day of 12/12. Used it at least every other day for a week, and then made 2 more batches. I used 3 different chargers from 5-16v and never got more than 17 ppm. It was anywhere from clear to caramel colored....but always 15-17 ppm.

Anyway, it is working better than I expected. After a week, the "male" started looking less feminine every day and started to grow some balls. It is now 24 days later and he is going to drop trou  any minute.
Contrary to what I have heard, the male showed very little stress. he is about half the size but there is no burn and he looks very healthy.
Folks, it really isn't hard at all...just go for it.
Thanks for sharing G.O.D.!

Trying it with regular bottled water like NAYA and seems to be working ( had to use coffee filters to clean the crap ) but the chick becomes a dick, less pistols and more balls every days.i'll flip if it works well.can't wait to pollenate and try the seeds. Thanks G.O.D
