If they hated jews (I was talking old times, not just nazi's) then every city in old europe that kicked them out when they owed them enough money was progressive, And that is fine, if you want to call them that I won't fight you.

But to think that the same people that are called progressives today (like the fat gay jew Barney Frank (who I think is doing good things for us (gasp I know)) are the same people, I would just say it is the word that has changed over the years to represent whatever movement it is attached to, and not the people that are the same.

When Progressives fell out of favor with the American populous, they changed their handle to "Liberals." Now that the term "Liberal" has negative connatations, they have reverted back to being "Progressives" again. What next ... "Liberty Lovers?"

Not that long ago, Liberals were all gung ho about affirmative action and race based hiring quotas. Over time, most everyone came to see how wrong this practice was. Part of this may have been the consequences of this policy coming to light and part may have been the influence of Conservatives who were always adamantly opposed to it. Never the less, this was one of the failed Liberal policies that was enough of an embarrassment for them to want to re-brand themselves as "progressives."

Another embarrassing position of the Left, (call them what you will) was the crusade they launched to defame, deride and deamonize all women who chose to raise a family over having a career. It was only a short while ago that the Left was 100% behind militant Feminism that told these women they were worthless idiots complicit in their own patriarchal oppression and that their choice to be a home maker was undermining equality for women.

It is no wonder there was a strong backlash to these ideas and it is likewise no wonder that those who advocated such foolishness would seek to distance themselves from them today.
