Prop 19 C-Span Discussion

Great discussion. It's beyond obvious to me Marijuana needs legalization. Amazes me how drug enforcement officials think they are doing anything at all to stop MJ smoking. I understand it would suck knowing you get up, go to work, and dedicate your life to a completely worthless endeavor, but for those of us who know, weed is everywhere. I live in a townhome/apt complex full of middle-class families, and there's probably 5 pockets of weed smokers within 500 feet of me, wouldn't surprise me at all. It was everywhere in my high-school 20 years ago, and just like prohibition it's only been pushed underground, and you'll never stop, or even dent, the flow.

I, personally am done completely with alcohol. I've just decided my body simply hates it. I feel like shit drinking it, it tastes like shit, gives me headaches, and all my body wants is to get it out, because it's completely unnatural to the human body. Weed, I get a quick buzz like alcohol, and have no side effects, no physical addiction, no liver disease, no hangovers. I simply come down from a buzz and feel normal again. It blows my mind this country is so stupid to be taken over by alcohol companies when weed gives you a buzz, and is so much more healthier. Also, I've had pretty severe sleeping issues throughout my life, so much so, that it's very seriously affected my employment. I've tried drug company pharmaceuticals, alcohol, 4 sleep studies, cpap machines, exercise, diet change, everything short of surgery. I eventually realized a bong hit at night helps me sleep fully through the night and not feel like shit the next day.

It also amazed me how people want to vote no on prop 19. Most are sellers, I expect who will lose their businesses, but ANY legalization at this point would be welcome. ANYTHING to get the ball rolling on a political front is good for legalization, even if it's not perfect from the outset.

When this bozo said to a caller 'well, this discussion isn't about medical marijuana' to avoid the topic... I wish the other guy would have said 'this isn't about cocaine either'... because that's one of the first things to come out of his mouth, some bs about how drug-use, cocaine went down 50%...off-topic. Cocaine / Meth are not even close to MJ, and the comparisons and ignorance about any similarities needs to stop. They are closer to drug company products.

I've also decided in my old age, that I'm at war with conservatives, or whomever the morons happen to be living in their own little delusional worlds. Same people who think abstinence works (you know, wishing against genetics), same people who think gayness is a choice, same people who think the northwest passage open for the first time in recorded human history isn't enough to prove climate change. Same people who use faith more than truth, ignorance more than fact.

I totally agree with you Mipbar. Until the day comes that politicians legalize cannabis, I'll never believe for a minute that they know anything about the average voter. Its easy to assume that they must be so closed in, in their gated communities, and small cliques to not get it. I dont really believe that they dont get it either, its too obvious. It is all fear based politics, attempting to control us. Hutchinson said it though, until the majority of voters push this through and make the change for legalization, they are going to do what they are paid by our taxes to do, and that is to control us by whatever means they deem necessary. I'm glad that so called ex-smuggler called in, put the DEA in their place. We all know that they are corrupt and cause more damage than they claim to fix.

Also it was a good point made that Cigarettes were never made illegal to control and reduce use. And yet it is being used less and less every day across all demographics.
