Prop 215 Grow 1.2

My first grow was prematurely terminated two days ago. :( Also two days ago, a couple hours or so before my not-so-happy discovery, I started germinating four seeds: one Northern Light, one Blue Hash, and two "mystery" seeds. No soak overnight in water, no paper towel, no fuss whatsoever. They didn't just "crack" already.... all four completely sprouted this afternoon!

I don't like handling sensitive seeds with even more sensitive taproots; my hands always have tremors, and I'm just kinda clumsy. However, I didn't clean out my BP (Stealth's Bubbleponics) till today, so I made me a "mini greenhouse" which not only made the move into the BP simple, but WOW the speed at which they sprouted blew my mind!

All I did was soak four 1" rockwool cubes in water pH'd to 5.5, put the seeds into the cubes, placed those into one of those little food storage containers that are so cheap it doesn't matter if you lose or toss it (two pack for $1), closed it, and set it on top of my cable box for the warmth they so love. The sealed container is the "humidity dome" (all four easily fit in the little container, and six would also very easily fit if I were to decide to fill up my BP) BUT you've gotta make sure you open it at least once a day for a moment or so, or they can quickly suffocate and rot. (This is true with using paper towels, etc., as well; just in case anyone reading this has had trouble germinating seeds.) I was opening it two to four times a day, whenever I'd happen to be near the entertainment unit.

So this afternoon I decided I should finish cleaning out my BP for the next batch. Got done with that, grabbed my "mini greenhouse" to resume germinating in the BP, and saw a seed popping out of one of the rockwool cubes. I figured it was way too soon for cracking and sprouting out of the cube, and was about to push the seed back down there. But it was a true sprout; it just hadn't shed the shell yet. So I very gently opened up the other three rockwool cubes just enough to get a peek, and sure enough: all four had completely sprouted, in just two days! I've read several people's posts about putting their seeds straight into their mediums, but I didn't think there was any way there'd be results so quickly. (In the past it took at least this long, if not longer, for the seeds just to crack open a bit in paper towels, then there'd be the wait for them to sprout once planted into the medium. Less work and time are a great combo!)

Luck of the draw or not, I was pretty bummed about discovering my plants were males this last week. I was waiting the last two days for my seeds to sprout, but wasn't feeling very "into" it. Then my quadruplets were born, and I got excited again. I even named them! Really though, it's easier to just give each a name than it is to refer to "the mystery plant in the left back of the BP," etc. I went with names from Greek mythology, all goddesses of course (gotta have female names!). I had to actually look up names beginning with "C" (A, B, C, & D for the order in which they sprouted and/or they were planted); there aren't many of those in the Greek pantheon, believe it or not. ANYHOOO, so they are Athene (goddess of Wisdom; she was wise to rise, LOL), Bia (goddess of Force; she forced her way out), Calliope (goddess of Eloquence and Poetry; the "C" that had to be Googled), and Demeter (goddess of [in a nutshell] Nature). So there ya have it!

They're already a lot more perky than they were when they went into the BP about four hours ago. Reaching for the light now, instead of just lying there on the rockwool cubes like they were when I set it all up and took a few snapshots. So long as everything goes smoothly for the Blue Hash (Calliope, or just Calli for short), then I'll have at least one female this time around as that one is from a feminized seed. :D

Wish me luck! :hump:

 YAY, you guys are here!

Nothing huge to report yet.... of course, they're still tiny. But they're perky and not just lying there limp like they were when they first sprouted. They surely were tired out from the birthing process. :D I've got photos from this afternoon. Can barely see them, but at least they're not tired anymore. And yes GT, they made me think of little forks too! LOL

OH, but all that moving of everything from the dining area to the spare room has to be reversed! :wall:
It was too hot with the tent closed when out here, which is why I moved everything. Well, in the spare bedroom it's too hot with the tent open! Next door teenager, J, is going to move it all back for me. Poor guy! At least he's getting paid some moolah for what he does around here, so I don't feel quite as bad about this. He's also going to reinstall the door between the dining and living rooms (removed before we moved in here, but still sitting in the garage), so that my "laboratory" (lol SICC!) won't be visible when someone walks in the front door. That'll also alleviate my "not enough darkness during flowering" problem out here. Two stones with one bird! Too bad we didn't know the door was in the garage before moving everything into the other room, though!

J also said that when I have to leave the house, he'll sit here for me if I'd like. Long story short, someone was in our driveway the other night just sitting in her car, J told her to leave and/or park in the store parking lot next door if she was waiting for someone around here, and as she was pulling out some guy appeared from my front yard talking on his cell phone and got into the car with her! He couldn't be seen in my yard, it was pitch black out. And there was absolutely no reason for him being there.... my yard is set way back from the sidewalk, and there's also a wrought iron gate right at the sidewalk. Just way too suspicous, especially with what was done to Purp and others! No one aside from the next door neighbors know about me growing, and they don't talk to anyone about anything. (They pretty much had to know, since they'd promised T that they'll watch out for and take care of me while he's gone. They're here many times a week, checking up on me and seeing what I things I need help getting done.) Could have been some stupid reason they were hanging out in our driveway and my yard, or they could have been "staking out" any old house around here. Since this neighborhood is mostly apartments and mine is one of the few single-family homes on this street/block, it'd be more of an invitation for a break-in than other places. Doesn't matter why they were here, it was just suspicious whether I'm growing or not.

Thing is, I was out running errands when that happened, and the short hour that I was gone, I was nervous as hell about leaving my house empty. Never did before, but that night I was nearly petrified that when I got home from the store, I'd find everything gone. Coincidence I'm sure, but I was very happy that J offered to sit here when I have to leave. This is a really bad area, nothing is safe around here. :( My son's guitars and amps were all stolen from the garage, and T's mains (speakers for a PA system). He'd left his bass & amp with a band member before he deployed for repairs, thankfully! I feel "safer" with the neighbors I've got now, and much better knowing that J will come house sit when I have to run errands. I can't wait till we can buy a house in the next year (or sooner?!) and get out of this awful neighborhood!

One week old, and everything's A-OK so far! :hump:

Moved the net pots to my smaller DWC unit for now; I can handle four gallons much more easily than six, and less nutrients being used for the same amount of plants. Also, J got everything back into my original grow space, so all the hard work is done for now. Roots barely started reaching beyond the net pots last night, and this evening are much more noticable. (Can't see them too well in photos yet, but I know they're there. lol)

Spent 2.5 days this week restoring my computer after I was stupid enough to make registry changes without first remembering to back up! Needless to say, I'm wiped and tired of computers! Took photos most days though, so they can do most of the talking.

Not a good day for browsing/posting (or socializing in general for that matter), but growth between yesterday and today was just a WOW to me, so I figured I'll just post the photos really quick since I took them and all. I should be up to reading journals tomorrow. :peace:

Thanks AK! They're growing like :weed:.... who'd've thunk it?!

All I can say for now is

I am on board and hoping for all all females, I just started a grow myself, only a week behind you, just not with as good of strains.

GL my friend, ill be watching
Thank you, Sticky! I'll have to check out your journal ASAP. :D My last grow was done with bagseed. ;) I'd ordered seeds while the last ones were just going into flower, so when they showed themselves to be males, I started over with the good seeds. Luck to you, too!

I've been trying to take photos daily (for my own records, not necessarily for this GJ), but yesterday I had to go grocery shopping and was totally useless after that. Tons of growth every day, I love watching the development! Well, here's what I've got going on so far.... BTW, water tempertaure is 72F, air temperature is 82F (not too bad considering it's 96F right now!), pH is 5.9, and nutes are GH FloraNova @ 450 ppm (going up to 600 on Saturday; next "level" so to speak). OK, trying to make shorter posts (LOL), so I'll let the photos do the talking.

Thanks LAX! You know, you're only about an hour drive from me. Even the 'net can be such a small world, eh?

Actually, the largest one is one of the "mystery" seeds; the Blue Hash is the next in size. They are as follows:

A: Mystery Seed (back left)
B: Mystery Seed (back right)
C: Blue Hash (front left)
D: Northern Lights (front right)

It'd have made sense for "B" to be Blue Hash, but I labeled them in order that they sprouted. (Albeit all on the same day, but oh well! lol)
