proper humidity during veg. / Fanning to increase strength.

i Just moved my plants into my grow room.. finally got around to finishing it...

i have 2 questions that kinda tie together...

at the moment i have no way to measure realitive humidity.

i have a 120mm case fan with some ducting attached to increase the speed of the output.

question #1 - is that type of fan strong enough to make a difference in seedlings that are between 1 and 2 weeks old? (the fan has a noticeable output, i can feel it on my hand, and it does make the plants move a little.)

the stems are very small and from reading here this sounds like a good way to strengthen them, however i do not see at what age it is ok to place a fan on them or how powerful a fan is needed. i see everyone uses different types... i just want to make sure this is sufficient. (only other fan i have is a big box fan...)

question #2 - i can't mesure the humidity but i would guess its around 15-25% but im not 100% sure on that. i was thinking about placing a canister of water infront of my fan to increase the humidity, i think this would work.

would that be a good idea or should i leave it as is?

any help is appreciated.

Generally, low humidity is the best rule of thumb - especially when in flower and you have buds - and especially when you have big, hard buds; humidity can cause mildew and ruin your bud. Putting a fan on a seedling is just plain not necessary.

I don't know what your grow room setting is, but mine is in a regular tract home with central HVAC. The humidity is low.. I'd guess 25% even in the little closet I have to work with. Central HVAC generally produces pretty dry air which, like potpimp said, is good.

Indoor humidity meters are very cheap, as are temp / humidity meters with a min / max temp function. I just bought a cheap thermometer and a multi-function light / moisture / pH meter for $9. Best money I've spent yet after light and good seeds.

yea i cant wait, i had 8 plants but when i was moving into my closet one of my effin cats bit the leaves off one so im down to 7. they are bubblegum gosh i cant wait.

I know this is kind of an old post but... a fan on seedlings is not necessary ? i'm going to have to disagree with you on that one... you want to get a fan on those babies as soon as they break soil... you dont want a tall lanky plant you want a good stem base to grow from... an osc fan will simulate natures wind and will make your plant alot healthier... and also you want your humidity around 50-60 percent during veg... flowering on the other hand you want it low...

I agree with Dusty. During Vegetative
growth ,you want the humidity to be in the 50-60% range. Get a humidifier.
