proper way to measure temps?

so I've been wondering, exactly where is your thermo sensor placed? at canopy facing the lights? at pot level? facing the lights or facing away(more measuring the air temp that way)?

at canopy is important but I like to place several around to get a total picture of what is going on, also nice to know the temp of the soil

I like to keep 3 or 4 of them in the grow room so you can get a global idea of what is going on. I have found that having colder temperatures at the floor and warmer temperatures above the plants is bad and can cost you ounces of sweet buds.

I have one above plant level, one at the floor, one where my air comes in my room. I like to keep them all within 3 degrees of each other.

good points you guys, I'll have to get a couple more sensors, I can have 3 on the one I have. I guess I was concerned more with the radiated heat from the bulbs at the canopy as opposed to the air temp.

just buy the cheap 3 dollar thermometers and place them everwhere.
sigh, I read that and had a "Homer" moment, DOH! here I was thinking when I could afford a couple more sensors at 23$ a pop ... sometimes I forget the simple things, thanks for the suggestion!

Iguess I was wondering more about the difference between the infrared heat(direct shined onto the plants/sensor) generated by the lamp(s) and the actual air temperature and which was more important.

I know for human purposes the wireless sensor is reccommended to be placed in the shade so as to measure the air temp
